Now you know how I hate to be argumentative and controversial ;D - but I call this a checked shirt. Maybe I'm just splitting hairs ! It's not that new a style for him either. I remembered the pic below posted by blog babe. I'm not sure how far it dates back to. You'll notice the checked shirt and jeans combo though. I'm inclined to think that Rufus is his own man and choses his own style. Besides - whenthe job of chief dresser comes up - it's mine !!! ;D Just to prove I'm not totally argumentative I love the look and the shoes too. Do you think it's a bit chilly in LA at the moment ? I'd have expected it to be a bit warm for a hairy shirt . We're still in short sleeves in the UK.

Thanks Glo - just over 2 years ago then.
I quite agree rueful. I much prefer to see that look than the one reserved for LA !

Nell,
I think his shirt is just a woven plaid, (not "hairy" as it may appear in the pic), like the ones you find at the Gap or a Levi's store. I don't know about the rest of the US, but they are very popular here in Southern California. Cool in LA on the 30th ?? .... well, here in S. Calif., we have had an unseasonably cool Summer. Very weird !!! If they were at The Grove in the late afternoon, it would feel cool, especially when the wind whips through that mall. I noticed the boots "his lady" was wearing. Many women around here wear boots now all year long. I think of them and wear them more as footwear for the cooler months of the year. But "Fashion" persists !! In the mall here in San Diego, my sister and I have seen many women, mostly the younger ones, in short, short -shorts, wearing Ugg Boots !!

It's pretty popular up here in SF, Spice - Ugg boots and shorts, make no sense to me!

Hey Spice - Sorry I didn't really mean that the shirt was hairy I was perhaps laying it on a bit thick. They all just looked wrapped up warmer than us here in the uk at the moment. If they'd have worn long sleeves here on Monday they'd have been breeding maggots. You get my drift though. Yes the fashion here in the uk was Ugg boots and shorts last year. There are still the odd one or 2 wearing them but things seem to have moved on a bit here. For the record I too wore boots on Monday despite it being warm - not the flat furry ones I hasten to add Edited to add I hope I didn't come across as sounding shirty

And shoes. Don't you think he always wears good shoes these days. No tatty sneakers for our fashionista!!! ;D Sorry about being late with this , still catching up .... I remember remarking about his shoes way back, and how they are always nicely polished, even back as a teenager. ( see pic in Cap it.) I also remember a interviewer commenting about his beautiful handmade Italian shoes . His reply was he had them 10 years! And even when he's not working and casual , he never really looks very scruffy. Unshaven but not scruffy. Heavens!! You would think I have nothing else to think about, wouldn't you.

Nell, I think she means if you go back to the photographer's link on the first page of the thread, the original, nonedited photos have been removed from the site.
To which I say, good.
