Thanks, Rai, for giving that backstory! For those of us that are newbies, we don't know all the stories that the rest of you already know about each other..........so it's really nice to see pics and hear stories "from the old days"!!!

I love the railway station scene too but it always gets me pondering how they could have made his leg look like it was amputated so high up. A below the knee amputation I can fathom but that is much higher. Sort of distracts me from the rest of the scene. He's certainly had the hair much shorter since

There's one picture of him in it (it's black and white) and he's sitting down and shirtless. In that picture, he looks like Gregory Peck.

Gregory Peck??!!! Well now I *have* to track down this film ! I can't find it on Region 1. I think there was a thread on EMS about player and tv compatibility for Region 2. Could someone please refresh my memory on this? I need to start looking at an upgrade. Pen

Could someone please refresh my memory on this? I need to start looking at an upgrade. Pen This is what I found out last month when I was searching. You can either "hack" your current dvd player or buy a muilti-region with a PAL/NTSC converter. Some are advertised as plays both but they will only play burnt dvd copies (home movies) not store bought. I found alot of great info by googling PAL to NTSC converter and you can also google the make and model # of your dvd player to see if can be hacked but it does void the warranty. From what I read hacking is easy you just punch in a couple numbers on your remote control when your disc tray is open. I didn't "hack" mine I put them in to see if they would play on my region 1 player and they played but then they killed my dvd player which was on it's last legs anyway. PAL VHS tapes are another story altogether. Here is a link that explains it more technically. www.dvddemystified.com/dvdfaq.html#1.10

Thanks, Rai, for that info........I've been searching several different sites, and ebay, looking for a brand I feel I can trust at a decent price!

Are you talking about "In a Savage Land"? I have it and it's Region 1. I need to remember where I found it, I think half.com, but I'm not certain. If you can't find it, send me a message and we'll look at options!

I have a 32" LCD Sharp widescreen TV and I have both the Region 1 and Region 2 DVD players hooked up and I alternate so I do not overuse either one. The region 2 player is probably a multi region but I only use it for Region 2.

I've just come across this thread when browsing through the older entries. Any chance to get a peek at the photo mentioned in the first posting elsewhere? (Or is it just my computer that doesn't let me see it?)
