That is a shame. I was hoping for some special features on the dvd. Again, I did not read the fine print.

What? No extra's? I was looking forward to a long documentary on the making of Adam, the first vampire. This is a disappointment.

I think there are extras, at least on the Blu-ray. This is what is listed on Shocktilyoudrop: Fox Home Entertainment has revealed details for its Abraham Lincoln: Vampire Hunter Blu-ray 3D, Blu-ray and DVD which is arriving on October 23rd. The film - which opened in the midst of the summer movie season - explores the secret life of Abraham Lincoln before he became President, and the untold story that shaped our nation.
Tim Burton produced and Timur Bekmambetov directed this adaptation of Seth Grahame-Smith's novel. Benjamin Walker, Dominic Cooper, Anthony Mackie, Mary Elizabeth Winstead and Rufus Sewell star. Head inside for a list of bonus content.
3-Disc Blu-ray 3D & 2-Disc Blu-ray Special Features: -- The Great Calamity Graphic Novel -- Audio Commentary with Writer Seth Grahame-Smith -- The Making of Abraham Lincoln: Vampire Hunter › Dark Secrets: Book to Screen › On the Set: Abraham Lincoln: Vampire Hunter › Vampire Hunting: Fight Choreography › The Art of Transformation: Make-Up Effects › A Visual Feast: Timur Bekmambetovfs Visual Style -- Powerlessh Music Video by Linkin Park www.shocktillyoudrop.com/news/169837-full-details-for-abraham-lincoln-vampire-hunter-blu-ray-a-dvdI'd imagine most if not all of this is on the regular dvd too.

Yep, I had read it and ordered, but with your word... BLU-Ray, and many peepz have no Blue-Ray yet - and totally agree, why not all this stuff on an 2. DVD as Special Edition ... I do think, no one will understand this !!!

ALVH finally came to the Redbox! Wish I hadn't wait to see it, so I could fastforward through the gorey parts, because it wasn't as bloody as I expected. It was excellent!! I was especially impressed with the special effects. Of course the chances of someone actually walking across a bunch or horses' backs during a stampede is unlikely, but it looked believable. And of course, Rufus was awesome! ;D

Here is quite a nice interview I found on Twitter. Michelle Bohn is a costume designer who worked on ALVH. She very kindly replied to a tweet I sent to her at the time but couldn't tell me which film she had been working on with Rufus because of the privacy policy. She later came back to me which I thought was very nice of her.

I've finally got around to watch the DVD, and I have to confess I was not extremely impressed with this one Of course, Rufus was excellent, but, my first complaint, there was way too little Adam in this! I loved his quietly menacing way of speaking, the ironic distance with which he watched the fighting in the ballroom, and he totally rocked those period clothes once again, with such nicely ruffled hair and that statesmanly air. Of his co-stars, I liked Dominic Cooper and Mary Elizabeth Winstead best. Cooper's Henry was spot on, and I loved Winstead's mix of girlish coquetry and common sense. Benjamin Walker was an OK Lincoln - surprisingly, I found him more convincing as the older Abe. I loved the early scenes with his wife, very sweet! What I didn't care for at all was the choppy way the story was presented. Somehow, I missed the one thread running through it all; especially in the first half it often seemed to me that scenes were strung together one after the other without a real connection. One thing happens, cut, next thing happens, cut ... I'd have expected a smoother flow of the whole thing. Well, and I'm simply not a vampire-movie fan. All those vampires popping up from somewhere, hissing, baring their fangs, going for someone's throat - basically the same scene repeating over and over - I find that rather tiresome (in any vampire movie, not just here). Neither do I care a lot for over-the-top fighting scenes. The ballroom thing was rather overdone, while the train scene was nicely filmed and spectacular and all but also a little too much for my taste. I know it isn't entirely fair to be such a stickler when comparing a book to its movie adaptation, and having read the book, I'm aware that the structure of the book is impossible to bring to the movie screen, but still I think it's a pity that there was so much left out of the film that I loved in the book (among other things the bit about Willie, Lincoln's son). To end on a more conciliatory note: I really loved the scenery and the authentic historical feeling of it, and I liked the very end with Henry showing up in a modern-day bar, followed by the map of the U.S. being drawn in blood. Sorry about this rant. I'd have loved to give this a more positive rating, but that wouldn't have been honest

Kate, can't say I'm surprised at your rating, your feelings mirror mine. I thought Benjamin Walker was the weakest link in this film, his Lincoln lacked much of the grit displayed by the Lincoln of the book. Aside from Rufus, I think Dominic Cooper was the best thing in the film, I loved his Henry, it was very much as I pictured it from the book. And while I agree with you that the ending with Henry in the bar was good - just think of how much powerful the ending (as portrayed in the book) would have been. But the map drawn in blood was way cool!

I generally think they should have stuck closer to the book in many respects, although I didn't mind the inclusion of the Adam character (not only for the obvious reasons - a film needs one good villain to relate to, not a scattered host of faceless baddies). Pity that they wasted that opportunity, especially considering that Seth Grahame-Smith himself wrote the script.

I think alot of people agree with you Kate. Rufus sure did make one sexy vampire though. He had such a dry spell after Zen, no offers for 8 months, so I am sure he was happy to work. It does seem to me that he became very busy with work after this. I am not sure if its the fact that he agreed to being a bad guy again or what.

Rufus sure did make one sexy vampire though. That's one thing I'm certainly not disputing! ;D I thoroughly enjoyed looking at him in his period garb You're right, this one seemed to have brought him back into focus!
