I'm taking off Friday, I need a day to get organized so we can leave for North Carolina on Saturday. Daughter just started a new job also - she's now working at my school in the advancement (i.e. fund-raising) department. She told them though that she had this vacation planned and they were good about letting her take the time off. Where are you going in south Carolina kygal? Myrtle Beach? We're going to Caswell beach on Oak Island, North Carolina. Just today and tomorrow and then I'm off until July 1. Yeah!

We go to Litchfield Beach in SC. Its next to Pawleys Island which more people may be familiar with. Same with kygirl regarding the new job and vacation. My son really needed to jump on the opportunity for his new position so he will not be going. Both sad and excited about that. We leave later today. Enjoy Caswell beach! Will be away for a bit. Be safe and happy everyone!

We had a great week at the beach also. The only worry is that there was a shark attack close by the week before. But we mostly just sat in our beach chairs on the edge of the water and let the waves wash over our feet. Like you, I'm glad to be home.

Boy, I can't believe how this summer is flying by. July is almost half way done and we've started preparing for the new school year. Going to my annual conference tomorrow and I'm really looking forward to it. A chance to re-connect with friends I only see once a year.
Things have been very uncomfortable at work - but physically instead of mentally for a change! Due to some construction in the building they had to turn off the A/C. The first day was bearable since it was cloudy and not extremely hot. But as the week has gone on the temps inside and out have been rising. I'll glad to be getting away to an over-air conditioned convention center and hotel.
We've had to get allergy meds for our dog Murphy. We know he's allergic to grains but he seems to reacting badly to pollen now also. He had been licking and biting at his one paw so badly the poor little paw was getting red. Plus he's been scratching more and more. Luckily the pills are small so we can sneak them into some of the people food he loves to eat.

Enjoy the conference Rachel. Cant imagine no A/C at work with the heat and humidity. I like to be comfortable! Our Lucy is on meds for allergies to. Poor things.
Have a great weekend everyone!

Luckily there is a passage way between the hotel and the conference center, cuts down on the exposure to the heat and humidity that is D.C. in the summertime. Having a good conference so far, great to be catching up with old work friends.

Hi Rachel...thank you x Hope your work improves soon.
Hope Lucy and Murphy are well despite their allergies. Poor doggies.
Well after a lovely trip to the Isle of Man (always been curious about it), bouts of babysitting, cat sitting and Wimbledon, I am here!!!
Have to say I am almost happy that Wimbledon is finished now!! So stressful lol. I'm exhausted and I didn't even play.
Fabulous men's final, yet extremely nail biting. Oh to be a neutral. I have decided that once Roger Federer retires I will never, ever, EVER have a new favourite player!!! (Difficult act to follow anyway). Way too stressful.
Both players were awesome yesterday, Roger was so so close to winning, but Novak came through in the end. Sport can be so cruel at times, but hey, Novak, well done you.
Just love watching Roger play, yes frustrating at times with the net, but that cross court backhand is a thing of beauty. Such a graceful player. Oh and those guys are so fit, amazing athletes.
And so good to see Andy Murray back and healthy. Hope he will be fit enough to play in the US Open later in the year.
Trip to IOM was excellent, fabulous weather. Had a hire car, so managed to cover a lot of the island although did go down a few lanes which I could have avoided!!!
Hope everyone is keeping well. After 2 weeks of being lazy (tennis nerd), need to get back into action and actually do something useful. The house and garden are crying out to me lol.
Have a great week everyone.

Hi LTM! I thought of you yesterday during the men's final. Was a great match by both men. I admit I didn't watch it all though. Had to get some things done around the house. G;ad you had a nice trip to IOM. Sounds interesting!
Have a good week to all!

LYM, how nice to hear from you! Like Kygal I too though of you while watching Wimbledon. Great, great matches, both men and women. I was also pulling for Federer but Jokovich earned that title. Did you get any good pics while you were in IOM? If so, hope you post some, your pics are always amazing.
Murphy is doing well on his allergy meds. He stopped licking his foot after the first dose. He's been on them two weeks now and he hardly ever scratchs now.
Things have been miserable at work. At the same time we're having a record breaking heat wave, we have no AC. They're doing some construction and my part of the building hasn't had AC for the last two weeks. It's supposed to back by Friday but I'll believe it when I see it. Or should I say feel it.

Oh geez Rachel. Still without A/C in this heat. Must be horribly uncomfortable. I would be wearing shorts, a tank and flops if allowed. Glad Murphy is feeling better.
Going to have more comfortable weather this week here.

Hallelujah! The weather has broken, it is 20 degrees cooler today than yesterday. A cold front came though last night and it has been raining more or less steadily since then. Still no A/C but we've got the outside door open to let in some cooler air. I'm hoping this weather lasts.
