this is bad. being disorganized is one thing, but making others pay for it is really bad.

I hate that! When I worked at Wal-Mart as a cashier on the cigarette register, the person who was supposed to take over for me at 11pm was always late! Unlike the other registers, I couldn't just turn off my light and leave because legally, there as to be someone at the cigarette register at all times. At least I didn't have another job to go to, though; I just wanted to get out of that place and go home!

Here's my self-pitying rant for the day. Right now, I can't sleep because I'm in pain because of a flair up of diferticulitis. If you don't know what this is, I hope and pray you never have to experience it first hand. Trust me when I say the pain will put you on your knees. It's like someone's taking a knife, sticking it into my lower left abdomen, and twisting it. If I take a deep breath, it hurts. If I shift in my seat, it hurts. And getting up and walking just a few feet takes several seconds of preparation because I know that's going to hurt. I left work early this evening and, even though I really shouldn't miss anymore work--the first bout of the condition three months ago kept me out for a week and put me on a written warning despite the medical documentation and another abscence could put me on a final warning--I'm doubting my chances of making it in tomorrow. I'm going to the doctor first thing in the morning so I can get started on anti-biotics; last time, I was feeling signicantly better within 48 hours after starting the medicine so I should be able to go back by Saturday. While I agree with Hood's statement on tonight's episode about the disadvantages of being young, sometimes getting older sucks too.

Thanks guys. It was a long morning. I called the doctor's office at 8:30am and they asked if I could be there by 9. I threw on some clothes, drove across town, got to the office about 10 til and ended up sitting in the exam room for almost an hour. Then I stopped by the post office to mail my mom the extra copy of "Amazing Grace" that I bought to donate to my church back home and got stuck behind some guy who was trying to cash a money order so he could use it to buy a whole different money order and of course, the machine wouldn't scan his original document. At least I spotted a collectible Edgar Allan Poe booklet and stamp set that includes "The Raven" and some other cool stuff while I was waiting in line. I thought at least my prescription will be ready by the time I get to the pharmacy. I go to Wal-Mart, pick up some soup, crackers, and ginger ale, head over to the pharmacy only to find out the prescription hasn't been faxed in yet. I call the doctor and find out that it had indeed been faxed but it didn't go through for some reason so she called it in. I had to wait another 30 minutes for the prescription to be filled and finally got home at 11:30, three hours after I walked out the door. The doctor wrote me out for today to give the two medicines she put me on some time to take affect. Guess I'll just relax and watch last night's EH again; maybe at least one of the dvds I ordered from amazon will come today, too.

I have a similar rant...I got really sick a while back, nausea, ear infection, sore-throat...you name it...I was miserable. The doctor gave me 2 days SIQ (Sick in Quarters) and some pretty decent meds...I got called back into work because some paperwork needed to be submitted...And another time, I twisted my knee and was put on crutches and Vicodin with 2 days SIQ...I was made to come into work because, according to my boss, "if you can sit at home, you can sit at work"... and then was told that it was my bad decision to do roller derby and that's why I was being forced to come in. (i twisted it getting a whip during practice). They tried to justify me coming in by saying the doctors note said I "should" stay off my feet, not "must".

Ah Ambra - my sympathies. I get diverticulitis quite often too and it is a b*gger! I have found that at the first sign, anti inflammatories and peppermint tea (by the gallon:lol) is a good way to diffuse it followed by Yakult or some other probiotics. Can I ask - do you use a wireless lap top on your lap a lot? I have a theory with mine that my macbook used for long periods (which are getting shorter and shorter) on my lap is enough to send me off into an attack. I try not to use the laptop much now at all and must say that my diverticulitis has reduced significantly.
While we are on about rants and raves - nothing I can do about mine but I am sick and tired of the high temps we have been having here in Eastern Aus this week - anyone who says they want to migrate to Aus because of the weather must have rocks in their head - working, living and sleeping in the heat is so much harder than doing the same in the cold. A cool change with a nice thunderstorm is what is required!

A warm change with a nice heat wave is what is required!

A cool change with a nice thunderstorm is what is required! I actually don't have a real "computer"; I have an msntv2/webtv unit but I do use a wireless keyboard for that which is usually sitting on my lap, just at the knees. This is only my second experience with diverticulitis so it's hard to tell what, if anything, causes the flare-ups. It's a bit frustrating because there's alot of contradictory info out there, especially when it comes to dietary restrictions. Some doctors say avoid certain foods because they'll trigger a flare up, others say there's no correlation between diet and the condition. Thanks for the suggestions; I just happen to have some Celestial Seasons Holiday Peppermint de-caf green tea I bought on sale a couple of weeks go. I'll try a cup of that and see if it helps any. If you don't like the heat, you can come over my way. It's in the teens and the weather folks are talking about a possible winter storm coming through sometime next week. I prefer the cold myself since I have no air-conditioning in my apartment. I just hate having to drive in bad winter weather. DGD--that really sucks about how you were treated during your illness and injury. Do they think you shouldn't have outside hobbies and activities? And your in the military! I would think they'd love having a rough and tough roller derby gal in the ranks!

Can't you two just swap countries? LOL! I'm game! I have actually thought of sleeping in the fridge because I havent been getting much sleep elsewhere At least with the cold you can rug up against it whereas apart from aircon (which the greenie DH wont countenance) there isnt much you can do to escape from the heat. The other night I was reduced to sitting wearing only a (very) wet towel (now if that doesnt offend your sensibilities I dont know what will!)
