I reckon that was rigged! Those percentages were almost immediate and didnt seem to change at all. I hope that doesnt impact on the Oliviers.

Kevin Spacey rant: I think that Spacey doing any Eugene O'Neill play is kind of phoning it in in a way because he's build his theatre career on O'Neill. I want to see him excel in someone elses work. You know, not just be good but be truly great. I do like him but he shouldn't rely on O'Neill to win him plaudits.
And on that note, I can't wait to see it on Broadway.

Boooo. You can see the star factor there, can't you. What comes to Olivier awards, in my speculations I have thought that Michael Sheen is the hardest competitor, because he has been nominated like four times already. I suppose, according to my kitchen psychology, that it is hard for the jury to let Sheen go without a victory again or that is my fear here. I don't think Spacey is such a threat because he has an Olivier already and he hasn't won Rufus earlier on and: this is kitchen psychology vol 2: Popular awards such as this don't count, critics always feel superior to general public as well as "amateur critics" among general public feel the need to show that they have a better insight than the general public. These tendencies work against Spacey and for Rufus or Sheen. But, Rufus was the best anyway...

Kevin Spacey wasn't nominated so he's not any threat for the Oliviers.
I agree about Michael Sheen but I don't think this will be his year. Too many ordinary people and critics have been completely blown away by Rufus' performance in Rock 'n' Roll.
Awards are full of people who are nominated year after year and rarely win. Michael Sheen is a good serviceable actor. He gets the job done, but create magic? You be the judge. If he was older than Rufus or he was nearing the end of his career, maybe, but they both have long careers ahead of them. I don't think you'll see Michael win until a year when the competition is weaker.
I could be completely wrong of course because there is always a sentimentality and fondness factor involved that is impossible to weigh.
But Rufus is a very strong competitor in R'n'R and I can't say I feel the same for F/N.
And just anecdotally, Kevin Spacey is one of those actors that I've never understood. People know his name from film but I can't see that he's on par with even the most serviceable stage actor. To me, being neurotic personally does not count toward being a good actor. As someone said elsewhere, you can spent that .02 cents anywhere you like. ;D

Oh gosh, here I was thinking Spacey was nominated. So he's not, brilliant!! (karma is going to get me... ) I love love love Michael Sheen and think he's one of the finest actors of his generation (he's consistently amazing and incredibly versatile imo) but I do think F/N relies heavily on the Sheen/Langhella double act which may work againt him at the Ollies. Iain Glen could the dark horse but I think Rufus stands a really good chance. GO ROOF!!
