Time to practice our French...

Interesting article...horrendous filming conditions, from the sounds of it. Another French reviewer described the film as a cross between Apocalypse Now" and" Don't Look Now"", both powerfully disturbing films.

Fascinating to watch this scenario play out. I wonder if the English language interviews will treat Emmanuelle Beart as if she's simply Rufus' arm candy. It's difficult for me to imagine that he has a small roll considering it's a couple searching for their lost child, yet neither of these stories has much to say about him in this English-language film produced by the UK's Film4.

Is there any way to get an English-language translation of the article? From my rudimentary French, it seems like a very interesting article, but I can't get the finer points of the piece since my knowledge is limited.

Well, the last one does say "the couple this" and "the couple that" so I am assuming that means Ruf is in it a lot.

I bought a used copy of Emmanuelle Beart in "Nathalie" because I wanted to see if she could act (for Ruf's sake) and because Gerard Depardieu was in it. It was hard to estimate her talent because it was one of those French films where as one of my friends says "nothing happens". I think she'll be a good partner for him in Vinyan, because although it may be a gross generalization on my part, I think more European actresses appear realistic in dramas than say the average American actress. (Just MHO-sorry) Not that it matters, but I like her as a brunette too. Looks good next to Ruf.

awwww... this film will be great I guess! Rufus again in a natural look...hmmmm... and Emanuelle Béart is a good actress as well, saw her in several films yet. the film will be in cinemas in the end of 2008 (but only in France as I know) and yes, Rufus will be in the film a lot! Emanuelle has of course the main part, they talk about "a love story", the mother who loves her son... but her husband (Rufus) will be always at her side I guess, so he is the second main part the couple is desperately looking for their lost son, and meanwhile they begin to "lose" theirselves - turning almost into ghosts or "lost souls"... so, if anyone needs me to translate more from french, here I am ;D (I am studying french, and both my grandfathers were french too)

Hi all, I have translated the pertinent bits of Fabrice du Welz's Vinyan blog and put them up here: www.geocities.com/rufian_ren/vinyan_blog.htmlI am not quite caught up with the latest posts but should get them done soon. I've left out the bits where he talks about the films he's seen, his iPhone not working, the weather in Brussels (hahahaha), etc. He also goes on about the collection of awful shirts one of the sound editors has and there area number of photos of the guy wearing them. My big discovery this week is that Opera cuts out the Geocities pop-up sidebar 'a priori' (you don't have to kill it yourself) - woo hoo! My other - not so surprising - realisation is that the small Global Roof photo gallery is really out of date (gotta get to that!) Renata
