So, Dreamer, just how many of us can you accomodate if we all decide to come visit for the festival?? LOL! I could quite a few. Unfortunately, I'm not nearby Venice! Hoping it will be the "Rome film Festival" again this year, in spite of our new fascist mayor! (sob!!!! ) It might be as an alternative to Venice.

Vinyan got picked up by "Russia's Paradise" - in good company with Woody Allen's next film with Larry David!!! Rai www.screendaily.com/ScreenDailyArticle.aspx?intStoryID=39091&Category=Russia's Paradise picked up a trio of films: Fabrice du Welz' Vinyan , Marco Tullio Giordana's Sanguepazzo and Woody Allen's upcoming project with Larry David. Also biting for Allen's new film were Mexico (Quality), Brazil (California) and Argentina (Pachamama) among others.

Fabrice du Welz has finally updated his blog - though mainly with ruminations on Cannes - and says that according to the latest news Vinyan will be released 24 September. He doesn't say where, presumably in France - but maybe more of Europe at the same time. He also says they are talking about a "crew" showing at the Cinéma Max Linder in Paris in mid-June. Renata

I'm dying to see this as well, but I'll bet they leave it for early next year in the US in case Eleventh Hour is a success.

Hi all,
Du Welz has updated his blog a couple of times this month. I will get the translation done but wanted to post the only real news right away.
The trailer for Vinyan will be available exclusively on the French Premiere site as of next Friday, 27 June (http://www.premiere.fr/).
Vinyan will be released on 1 October ("it's official")... though he doesn't say where, presumably in France. Du Welz also says he watched the first 35 mm copy of the film on Tuesday and cried. I assume that was pleasure and relief, not coz it was so bad, hahaha.

Great news, Renata, thanks! I can't wait to see that trailer. The release date has gone back again, though - first it was the end of August, then 24 September, and now 1 October. The earlier dates were only for France (and maybe Belgium). Oh, well, there's always the Eurostar (the train going through the tunnel, under the English Channel, for those who haven't heard of that!), I suppose....

The trailer is on-line now. Totally disturbing stuff. I am so not into horror movies. What do you ladies think?

After the stills I've seen, I'll be avoiding the trailer and the film, I 'm afraid. BUt really looking forward to the Larry David-Woody Allen collaboration Rai mentionned above. Larry David is a fave.

Thanks for the sneak peak, looks very intense. It's got an interesting premise, I will be putting this on my list of must see's. I don't go to the movies very often, I'd rather rent, but this looks like it should be seen on the big screen.

I finally watched the trailer - ! It's a good trailer... hard to say how the film will be - except heavy, hahaha. Something you'll be staggering out of the theatre after.... In the bit of the blog I haven't translated yet du Welz talks about a showing for Emmanelle Béart, and how she took a bit of time to recover after the viewing. I'll try to do the translation soon. Reading the Google translation of the latest blog entry, dated 2 July (I'm sure Renata's will be much more accurate!), it seems post-production ended on that date. Fabrice du Welz also says "the trailer has created restlessness and curiosity", that the film goes before the censorship committee on 7 July and that "whatever happens, we will not cut anything". He seems (the translation is a little confusing) to be praying for an under-12 ban for the film to be distributed properly, and that an under-16 ban "would be very painful". He asserts that Vinyan is not a horror film but "a disturbing and dramatic experimentation that seeks to provoke emotional reactions, rejection, where the fascination… anything, provided that causes something!" (I wish all directors kept a blog like this - at least we'd get updates on Rufe's work that way )
