I think Oprah's company, Harpo Productions, should invest the bucks to buy the American TV rights for the series!
Then, she'd have even more reason to have the cast on her show.
Glad you're all enjoying the book. I absolutely devoured it and can hardly wait to see the series!

Read this this morning...perfect description of Toms voice....He heard tom turn over, and waited for the deep, dusty voice.

Hi! I am Mia and in my introduction page I kept answering your warm welcome messages and noticed that we wander to the topic of The Pillars of the Earth. So, I decided to continue 'talking' in this thread to stay 'on topic'.
I mentioned there that I a am a Matthew Macfadyen fan and I have a site for Matthew. But since news about Matthew and The Pillars of the Earth can take us to Rufus, I would like to tell you that we knew through Matthew's agency that he will be filming in Hungary until the end of the year. Through Matthew's wife, we also know that Matthew already has the monk haircut so maybe Rufus must have the long beard Tom Builder has as described in the book and he must also be un Hungary since his Tom Buider interacts quite extensively with Prior Philip.
I do promise you that I will come over with any news my forum gets about the filming of this project.

Someone asked me about when TPOTE would be filming in Austria. I don't know if you already have this information but it was sent to me by a friend from Germany. www.oe24.at/kultur/Donald_Sutherland_dreht_in_Oesterreich_0477945.eceThe article says that filming begins in the middle of October until to the end of November at ´Burg Kreuzenstein´ near Vienna.

I was getting used to take it to bed every night and it is so good, that by the end, I was reading slower because I did not want it to end.

I started this book nearly two weeks ago and can't put the thing down. I'm nearly finished and don't want it to end. The characters are so interesting and well written that I don't want it to end. Ruf is perfectly cast, and I'm sorry that it won't be playing any time soon in the U.S. I've read some other posts that have said it's a bit long, I haven't found that to be true at all, in fact it's quite the opposite for me. The attention to detail is beyond imagination. There are at least 3 other people in my office who are reading it as well, and a handful that read it years ago. I've been a Follet fan for a while but this is something so different to his usual subject matter. To all those that will be able to see it please keep us Yanks posted.
