Now take this with a grain of salt everyone because it came from a blog and I have no independent corroboration on it, but it appears that Rock 'n' Roll is going to take over the theatre from Frost/Nixon. www.ibdb.com/venue.asp?ID=1346Bernard B. Jacobs Theatre 242 W. 45th St., New York, NY Seats (approximate): 1170 still ludicrously large. Glad I saw it in London. and again with a very large grain of salt: Trevor Nunn, who helmed the London production, will have the honors of directing the play in New York. Additionally, most of its heralded cast will make the transfer as well, including Olivier Award-winning Rufus Sewell (last seen on Broadway in the original mounting of Translations in 1995), Brian Cox and Sinéad Cusack.file it under FWIW... I've written to the blog guy and I'll let you know what he has to say.

Okay never mind From today's NYTimes:
Stars of the London production of Tom Stoppard's "Rock 'n' Roll" will reprise their roles when the prizewinning play opens on Broadway in the fall.
Under the direction of Trevor Nunn, and with a cast including Brian Cox, Sinead Cusack, Rufus Sewell, Nicole Ansari and Alice Eve, the drama covers the yearsfrom 1968 to 1990 in Prague, where a rock band stirs resistance to the Communist regime, and in Cambridge, England, where love and death affect the family of a Marxist philosopher.
The play will open at the Bernard B. Jacobs Theater on Nov. 4, after previews beginning on Oct. 19. "Rock 'n' Roll" won the London Evening Standard and London Critics' Circle Theater Awards for best new play, and Mr. Sewell won the Olivier, London Evening Standard and London Critics' Circle Awards for his performance as a young academic who returns to his native Czechoslovakia and becomes a dissident.
can't get much more corroborated than this...

Awesome!! Excited!! I saw Frost/Nixon on the mezzanine there a few weeks ago. Not bad for a Broadway mezzanine. I'll go back before it closes to see F/N again and check out the place further.

So excited about this. All of you have talked so much about Rufus' stellar performance and I'm so thrilled that not only he, but basically all the actors from London will be coming to New York. (I know some of you might have wished for some other supporting actors to see what they could do alongside Rufus, but for selfish reasons I'm kind of happy I'll get to see the same people who performed in London. )

I totally am willing to bet that Jason Butler Harner will be considered for Ferdinand if Pete Sullivan is out. He's a bit of a Stoppard staple here in the US and low profile enough to take a supporting role.

Uke, are there reasons to believe Pete won't be making the trip? I thought he was sooooo good.

No reasons that I know of except for the fact that (a) he's not mentioned anywhere and (b) Nicole Ansari is mentioned as appearing courtesy of Actors Equity whereas I was under the impression that she had papers and was already set to go regardless. And Broadway.com specifically mentions: Five members of the acclaimed original London company of Tom Stoppard's Rock 'n' Roll, Brian Cox, Sinead Cusack Rufus Sewell (winner of the Olivier, London Evening Standard and London Critics' Circle Awards for his performance), Nicole Ansari and Alice Eve, will appear in the upcoming production.
