more rufus reading! Yay! Hope this isn't another of those things that can't be gotten outside of he UK. ah I see. This is Bill Nighy's project. From www.billnighy.infoBill Nighy also reveals what he is currently working on: The thing I’ve mostly been involved in lately is a project that is basically my project, which is this thing where I want to put great books on your iPod, read by great people. So basically, famous people reading your favorite book. Its called Silk Sounds. I read Edgar Allen Poe, we have the complete Sherlock Holmes, we’ve got Jules Verne, we’ve got Henry James. We’ve got some very cool people reading. The idea is that it would introduce younger people to great literature. You can download it on your iPod for a couple of bucks. The idea is that its ridiculously cheap and you get to hear some of the greatest books ever written, read entertainingly by some of your favorite actors.which explains a lot.

Woo hoo, sounds great - as long as it isnt just for ipods! I use my palm for things like this! Wonder what Rufus will have been reading. Now I can just imagine him doing Sherlock Holmes!

Of this list, I'd like Jules Verne. I wonder if they are doing Henry Miller or "Papa"... I'd like to hear Rufus read that since he seems to be capable of making nearly anything sound somehow romantic.
Poor fellow. He's never going to get away from that image.

Ooh, interesting! Maybe those of you collecting Rufus' Ian Fleming's works will be able to finish your collections. I hope they will have The Woodlanders!

I love this! Surely they realize they need to make them available outside the UK! If not, we should certainly inform them!

If Nighy said 'bucks' and not 'quid', then it looks likely to be available outside the UK as well.

Er....perhaps these books might already be recorded or might be re-releases of audio books, as Ian Richardson passed away a few months ago?

I noticed his name as well. I'm hoping they are new and they've just been working on them for a while. Richardson's death afterall was completely unexpected. The only thing Rufus has ever done that fits into the genre that Nighy describes is The Woodlanders and that would rot your teeth before you got through it. I was hoping for something a little more... or maybe a little less... if you know what I mean. Updated: well duh... it says right on the website that they are unique to Silk Sound Books. lol! Any day I'm hoping to learn to read...

Well this just sounds fantastic! I would love to hear Rufus read something besides Bond! Maybe I could even get my girls to listen! Nah, they wouldn't unless someone like Ryan Gosling or Channing Tatum (or whatever his name is) read the book. If it's not required by school, my girls don't read.......which is a pity. Our son LOVES to read and that is about the only thing that saved that kid in school!

Oh boy! If you can't perform Congrieve or Wycherley or Moliere you can certainly read something like it. What fun. I'm listening to the first book while I type this and I can just see Rufus reading this thing. If you've ever read or seen Tom Jones which is also by Fielding you've got a good feeling for what it's like. Perhaps others know this story. I had never read it. so, download it. It's great fun I think my biggest problem with this is how much Rufus hates reading it... lol! He's clearly doing it against his will...

;D Thanks for the link -- I've purchased it and was able to get the folder with all those chapters onto my ipod (with the help of my teenage son). I'm listening to Ruf reading it now -- love that voice
