Well, despite his denial to Rai, Rufus is still showing as connected to this production - it is now listed on a European Film Index, updated last Friday! screenbase.screendaily.com/films/394I've e-mailed Blue Star Movies to ask if they can confirm one way or the other. Keep your fingers crossed! If he is making this, shooting starts 5 July - which puts "Nocturne" on 18 July in doubt. (Maybe he hadn't signed on the dotted line and was being his usual superstitious self when he told Rai he wasn't doing this?)

Maybe that's why he is spending so much time in LA then, getting prepared for the filiming?

Well, if the shoot is still due to start on 5 July, will he have finished filming the three episodes of Aurelio Zen by then? He could go straight from one to the other, of course, especially if he's not needed on The Ushers right away. I'd still like him to be involved in this, if only because it gives us yet another project to look forward to. Thanks for finding the links, Rueful!

I have said it before and I will say it again I am happy not to have him in a project with a breathing house and mad siblings. It actually sounds like a remake of a failed American movie which killed off summer vacationers who stayed at a "beautiful" summer vacation home.

My husband came home from work yesterday and told me that a friend had said Rufus was in Ushers. So it seems the rumours are quite widespread. Maybe he saw it on the internet as well.

In Italy there are many articles since a year ago talking of that, as I've already posted here: rufussewell.proboards.com/index.cgi?board=news&action=display&thread=1256&page=7Here are some of the italian articles, you can use the tranlator: www.edgarallanpoe.it/cinematografia/the-ushers-film-in-3d-sul-racconto-di-poe/www.horrormagazine.it/notizie/4158/So, I don't know if all those articles are wrong, but they are a lot! Here the english www.imdb.com/title/tt0360140/news?year=2009one of them: New ‘Fall Of The House Of Usher’ Film ‘The Ushers’ To Be Shot In 3-D

Hollywood loves Edgar Allen Poe, and they love his story “The Fall of the House of Usher.” They love it so much that they’re going to make yet again, despite the story having a silver screen legacy that spans more than 10 variant adaptations. On the heels of a new Poe-inspired “Tell-Tale Heart” movie starring Josh Lucas, the latest adaptation of “The House of Usher” will be shot in 3-D bearing a simplified title: “The Ushers.”
Produced by Green Knight Ventures, “The Ushers” will star Claire Forlani, Dougray Scott and Rufus Sewell, with Stephen Kay attached to direct, according to The Hollywood Reporter. Green Knight is thus far best known for their Colin Firth crime thriller “The Meat Trade.”
The vast library of “Fall of the House of Usher” movie adaptations most famously includes Vincent Price in the lead role of Roderick Usher for Roger Corman’s 1960 film. As »

Claire Forlani, Rufus Sewell and Dougray Scott will star in a new take on Edgar Allan Poe's "The Fall of the House of Usher" entitled The Ushers.
Stephen Kay is directing in 3D. Since hitting the horror scene with the stylish, but vapid, Boogeyman, Kay has directed episodes of Sons of Anarchy and Friday Night Lights.
Screenwriter Gian Marco Masoni's adaptation tells of two siblings who begin to feel trapped in their Martha's Vineyard estate hire a real estate broker to help solve their problems.

Maybe the Zen series will be filmed in 3 parts. The stories do actually take place at different times of year don't they. There could therefore be a summer break I'd say, and time to film the Usher before the next in the Zen series starts filming. (Is this just optimism I ask myself ?) Then or course The Usher would be late starting filming and/or Rufus wouldn't be needed until August and he'd have time to step in and narrate Nocturne on 18 July when Sam West can't make it ! Although his leading lady did make reference to a long hot summer didn't she ! (Perhaps she's just deluded !)
Dum spiro spero ! ;D

Sounds unlikely. Also he mentioned in a recent interview promoting TPOTE that he was going to be unemployed after Zen until the right part came along. Last time I looked at IMDB they still thought he was in this though.
