(crikey, Nell, you were up early!) What I forgot to say was, guess who's the only cast member to have their photo on the Channel 4 site so far? How wise they are!

Yay - now we just need the date ! Called Channel 4 today and they confirmed that it starts on the 16th October at 9pm for an hour and an half for 8 weeks - yay!!! This is fantastic news for me, as unfortunately, I could not get to view it online, whatever I tried and whatever links people sent me just didn't seem to work, so am really looking forward to it.

Yay! Thanks, Manuela! I think they've got something wrong, though - it wasn't 12 hours long. Hope they're not going to stuff it with ads to make up the difference.
Oh, well. The DVDs are due out not long after!

Oh i think it will be stuffed full of ads GE2.
A standard one hour show on commercial tv is actually 42 minutes long, allowing for 18 minutes of ads. So, given that each ep of Pillars is 60min, an extra 30 of ads sounds about right!!

Remembering what Channel 4 does with a lot of their programming these days, you could be right! Hope it doesn't clash with Strictly.....

Just seen in the Radio Times that they have extra photos of TPOTE on their website, so he is the link. www.radiotimes.com/content/features/galleries/pillars-of-the-earth/17/ Hope it doesn't clash with Strictly..... No chance of that, as it seems Strictly is being shown earlier and earlier each week. Only way I can watch it now is to Sky+ it, which is annoying, as Strictly is one show I like to watch "live" and all because of the X Factor!!!

It was SO nice to be able to watch this on a regular-sized screen rather than the computer monitor or my tiny DVD player screen.
It looks like we're getting it in the same format as in the US - parts 1 and 2 conflated as Episode 1, and then four hour-long episodes, then parts 7 and 8 conflated as Episode 6. Then the DVD arrives, yay!
I still don't know which made me tear up more - Tom having to leave the baby, going back to find him gone, or discovering him at Kingsbridge. All I know is I was just as moved even though I knew what was coming, as I was when I first saw Rufus play those scenes. Just beautiful acting! Oh, it has to be that last scene, overcome with joy and wracked with guilt at the same time. Not many other actors could make that so believable.
And then we had the Tom-Ellen scenes..... <goes off to get cold shower>

I quite agree GE2. My monitor's a 22 inch LCD but it wsa no comparison to watching on the 46 inch screen in HD. I absolutely loved it.
I'm pleased I saw it first time around though. It wasn't quite so head spinning this time as I knew who all the characters were. It felt like a bit of a whirlwind the first time. This time I could concentrate on the performances instead of the plot.
It's funny seeing it immediately after finishing the book too. I also loved the book - it's definately gone into the to be read again pile.
