Hello everyone, my name is Jan. Thanks again for the warm welcome over on the other page. I am new here obviously, but I'm also new to the whole message board thing, so forgive me if I don't follow protocol...I will do my best! I've been a "doofus for Rufus" since about 2003 when I purchased a copy of A Knight's Tale which related nicely to my job at the Bristol Renaissance Faire at the time (yes, I was a beer-slinging wench...lol). Anyway, I found myself rooting for the bad guy, which my Heath-Ledger-fan-of-a-daughter scolded me for...but it was his voice that first caught my attention. I then began to notice Rufus in other movies and eventually began seeking out his work. I've just begun collecting his movies and recently I was fortunate enough to win an autographed copy of The Illusionist over on eBay...Woo-Hoo! My favorite movie is The Taming of the Shrew, which I must've watched at least half a dozen times on YouTube before buying a copy of it...lol. I also love Dangerous Beauty, Illuminata, and Uncorked. I have never seen him deliver a bad performance, although Helen of Troy was hugely disappointing (save for Rufus). And I was ticked when Eleventh Hour was cancelled here (although I've read that Rufus was relieved by that decision). I'm in the states (Illinois) and so I'm first getting acquainted with a lot of his BBC work. I stumbled upon this site just the other night and I must say, you people are way over-the-top bonkers...but I LIKE IT! Thank all of you so much for sharing and I'm really looking forward to catching up on reading all of the older posts. I'd also like to add that you have impeccable taste in men...and it's nice to know I'm in good company. You go, girls!!!

Hey jfly!!! I said hi to you on the other board, but once is never enough (for certain things anyway!!) ;D Love your signature and avi comment - clothing is very much overrated in my opinion. Especially on certain men. Which is why i've been watching Spartacus....... but enough of that......... <note to self - stop thinking about Spartacus> If you're up for it (which you seem to be) you'll have lots of fun here. I'm looking forward to some fun on the weekend as i finally managed to get a big piece of writing off my back today. So come and join us in the Games section - will look forward to catching up with you there!!! I could have sworn she just called me a doofusNo sire, i think you'll find she was referring to herself Mmmmm, ok......... as long as you're certain............Um yes sire, very certain, very very certain, in fact ;D Later: Jan, i clicked on the link to your myspace page and saw that you were a vegetarian. I'm a recent convert so might have to tap you up for some good recipies!!!

Do enjoy reading all the old posts, do join in the games, and please ask if you have any questions. Oh, and be prepared for bouts of Rufusitis from time to time. You'll know what that is when it strikes....

Welcome Jan!! I can tell you'll fit right in around here. I think we need to have some Rooftop T-shirts made with the slogan "Doofus for Rufus" in big letters.

LMAO Numbat...and thanks again everybody!
I have a few questions:
First, is it considered taboo here to copy the photos other people have posted? I don't want to piss anybody off (and I grabbed a few the other night...). If it is, I sincerely apologize!
Secondly, if any of you Rufus "experts" (or "sexperts", as the case may be) have a MySpace account, I need some help with the Rufus (notice I didn't say Sewell...oops...damn...sorry) photo album I have going on there. I'm not quite sure of when some of the photos were taken or what movies some of them are from (shame on me, I know...but I haven't seen all of his work yet). So if any of you have too much time on your hands...LOL...feel free to leave the info as photo comments and I will then be able to label the photos properly. I can use all the help I can get!
And lastly, I don't understand why using the name "Sewell" is forbidden (an explanation would be much appreciated), but okay...I won't use the "S" word again (washes mouth out with soap...blech).

No, Jan, it's not taboo to copy photos others have posted - we do it all the time! (See the Cap-It game) Can't help with the MySpace stuff, don't have an account, sorry. I'm sure someone here does, though. Have you checked out the galleries at www.roofsewell.com? There are lots of pics from Rufus's films, TV and stage work, so you might be able to identify your photos from there. As for not calling Rufus "Sewell", it's not exactly forbidden, it's just...well.....a bit un-fanlike! A non-fan doing, say, a review of one of his films might just use his surname, but it's a bit impersonal for a place like this. Call him that if you want, but I think you'll be the only one!

Sanity is overrated, but then I'm in California, and we tend to march to a different drummer altogether!
Welcome Jfly, enjoy the games too if you can play, they're quite fun!

Hahaha, don't worry jan, there's not much that's forbidden around here. Except....... I know, I know. You don't even need to say it, I've heard it all before. Magnificent is the word you're looking for.........

I had one of the worst possible days at my office but then I come here and read about "Doofus for Rufus" and I am left laughing out loud
I personally will offer to buy the first tee shirt myself. If you are going to be a doofus, it may as well be for a worthy cause.

Whew...glad I'm not off on the wrong foot here!
Numbat, I am trying to interpret your post here and the best I can come up with is "Touching his magnificent sword is off limits"...am I even close? Or does it mean that Ed Norton shouldn't? If Ed Norton turns into the Hulk, is he then permitted? Just messing with you...LOL...I like your sense of humor on here!
And thanks GE2 for pointing me in the right direction for the info. I am still learning my way around here and I will definitely check out the games, Rugirl!
