I wrote him and quizzed him mercilessly until - well - it turned out to be Rufus after all! LOL. I'm going to assume that he found it amusing that you didn't believe just ANYONE who claimed to be Rufus was Rufus! |

It was relatively early days of the internet and emails, Catdishy, but I had a little storehouse of RI (Rufus Information) on file and threw questions at him non-stop. Even though he could answer them all, I still doubted his identity. It didn't help that my husband kept kidding me that someone was yanking my chain bigtime.  It took about a week until I was finally convinced. Then my heart stopped. Luckily it started again and the rest is history. ;D Rai |

What a good sport, and I bet he thought it was hilarious. Can you imagine most 'stars' having the good humour to be grilled like that? Most of them would have flounced about and stamped their Jimmy Choo'd feet in indignation.

you are a very lucky girl indeed. I was lucky enuf to get his autograph after seeing him in R&R, my sister spoke to him and he was so gracious, he took the time to speak to several of us fans. Not many actors would take the time and effort to speak to their fans. I do hope his series gets picked up. Would have liked it if he was able to speak in his own accen though, but still just the thought of seeing him every week makes it all seem ok. Have been watching John Adams, so far not enuf air time for Ruf. Again thanks for sharing.

Oh God if he'd called me, I wouldn't be alive to tell the tale!  Actually it was a question about what he wore to the Cold Comfort Farm premiere. He had to ask Yasmin (his girlfriend at the time) because it was a Dries Van Noten red shirt and "greeny" (as he put it) suit. Sounds awful but he looked great. I had a photo that my friend in Liverpool had sent me and that kind of sealed the deal, so to speak. When we finally met F2F in Sheffield, on the second night he wore said red shirt in my honor. Nice touch, eh?  I have the photo but I can never figure out how to post photos here. |
