What a marvellous job Kerry!! It must have taken you ages and ages . Thank you for all the work ..and thought you put into it.
For those of you thinking about next year.
To send my card to Kerry from France , cost 1 euro 70cents (approx £1.20) plus cost of card and envelope... minimal.
For procrastinators , just sit down and write the first nice birthday wish thing that comes into your head. It is usually the most sincere ! You Know You Want To!!!! Kerry, could you post the caps please THANKS AGAIN

Kerry, I would love you to PM the finished product. As for my changed mind, I think it was a combination of procrastination paralysis and then performance anxiety, i.e., I didn't want to write something silly or useless, had absolutely zero ideas for what to draw, photograph etc. Poor excuses really, but there you have it. Stage fright, I'd call it.

Numbat, I don't know if you want to know why people didn't sign on in the first place, but for me it was knowledge of my own procrastinating ways. Last year I had health issues and Pitzel very kindly added my message for me. When I thought about sending something to you this year, I figured I would think and think and never get around to it, and didn't want to commit and then blow it off. (The other day I found my brother's birthday card in a drawer, all signed and everything, waiting for a stamp. His birthday was in July. He lives about a mile away.)
Anyway, I just wanted to let you know that your system this year seemed (from an outside perspective) like it worked very well, except for all the hard work it meant for you. It meant a lot fewer chances for the card to be lost in transit, and it meant it wasn't held up by someone who didn't pass it along in a timely way.
If you get a chance, I'd love a PM with the finished product too. Thanks.

It's a little bit embarrassing to say that, but I didn't have much time looking at your project. As an artist I would be glad to get a PM of your work, too. Thank you.

Well done Kerry, , and so many thanks for your great work! I think it will be a very nice memory for him, when, in a cold winter, he will be telling his grandchildren the story of his life! I think like you, this way is the best one for many aspects, as you said. A new shape will be appreciate next year, just for changing, and we have nearly a year for thinking. I just hope the card will arrive in time, we should start before next year. I didn't get to read the caps.

Thanks for all your kind words everyone. I think the card should be delivered to Manuela today. So lets all keep our fingers crossed that Rufus returns to London for his birthday after Berlin, and doesn't just fly straight back to LA from Germany. We've still done better than we did last year though - i don't think last years card arrived in London until several weeks after his birthday so at least we've managed to get it there before the day. Although it's a shame it didn't beat Rufus to London!! Next year, i will definitely start the card project earlier. I did start talking about it originally in March and someone told me it was a bit to early to be thinking about his birthday so i dropped it for a few months. But the truth is that we really need about 6 months to start talking about it, get the messages in, make the card and get it to the UK. So regardless what people have to say, I'm going to make the official launch date of next years project April 29 2011, which is exactly 6 months before the day. And i think i will ask for smaller messages so that i'm able to arrange them more attractively on the page. Because of the size, i really had no choice but to place them straight to be able to fit 3 per page. But next time, i'd like the option of being able to angle them and fit more per page - so i might ask for the messages to be half the size. That might also take some of the pressure of of those procrastinators if they only have to do a small message!! Now, I understand where you're coming from and i appreciate everyone's honesty in saying that they are a procrastinator. But let's be honest. As a serial procrastinator myself, i know that all those things that we put off time and time again are never as bad as you think they're going to be when you actually do them. How many times do we put things off and when we finally do it, say to ourselves, I don't know why i didn't do that weeks ago!!! The truth of the matter is that all you need to do is write: "Happy Birthday Rufus, I hope you have a great day. Hugs, (insert your name here!)" On a piece of paper, and send it to me. So, if you want to be involved next year, start thinking about it now. In fact if you want to, you can send me your messages NOW while it's fresh in your minds. Otherwise, i'll be opening the topic again on April 29 next year. I have a few things to catch up with, but i'll be back later to post the caps i used and to PM the card to those who wanted to see it. ;D

This is good news Numbat! But I think about my take off until January or February. Now a lot of holidays ahead of us and I have to figure out what to whom to give at Christmas and so on. However, I already know what will probably be on my birthday wishes for 2011. ;D Yeah Nell, I keep my fingers crossed too. Numbat, could you please send me the caps? Thank you!
