Husband didn't feel like watching it last night (he's only been sitting at the mailbox waiting for for weeks) so we've got a viewing date set for Saturday.

there are FIVE commentary tracks on the film itself. Five! I wish Rufus was part of the commentaries!!!! (*ahem* I just want to hear him speak for 2 hours!)

Hello All, just saw the Director's Cut of "Dark City" much better than previous version. It's mre fluid and the longer shots work well. Added scenes too, the narration is gone for good, thank the Lord for that. The bonus features are a treat too! The comentaries portion is long but it's wort see Ruf, great bits towards the end, and a treat seeing his photos from the set. He has a good eye. And a very funny sense of humour but we all knew that didn't we? As I said the commentary is long but Ruf makes several appearances throughout. Stay with it. I would love to see this on the big screen possibly IMAX as I missed it the first go round.

The extras portion that he appears is called "Memories of Shell Beach". As I said it's long but worth seeing him.

The extras portion that he appears is called "Memories of Shell Beach". As I said it's long but worth seeing him. Yes! He was SO FUNNY! I loved the part when he talked about the difference between the Dangerous Beauty fans, and the Dark City fans, when they approach him.

What a lovely surprise to find my DVD in my letterbox when I returned from holiday. Having a few girl friends over on Friday for a "Rufus Night", so first on our list is Dark City and am really looking forward to seeing this as I've never seen it - Sci Fi not really my thing, is hubby's thing though and is disappointed that he has to wait til Sunday to watch as only GIRLS allowed on Friday and out on Saturday!

this is the first film in which I saw Rufus. Or at least it's the first in which I actually noticed him. At the time it was a big cult classic. I knew a lot of people who anxiously awaited it's arrival then debated what had been done to it after they viewed it. I love it just as much today as the first time I saw it. The directors cut is a huge improvement. The story flows better and some of the odd enigmatic moments that are difficult to understand if you've only seen the film once are now clear. I haven't watched any of the extra's as I haven't had time, but I'll get to them eventually.

I agree, Maxx. The Director's Cut is soooo much better. As is the music. Jennifer Connolly's singing voice is just fine. I can see why she was originally disappointed they dubbed it.
Haven't watched the extras yet either. Started to listen to Roger Ebert's commentary, but haven't had the time to continue.
Looking forward to Shell Beach. ;D

Watched the Shell Beach documentary today. Great seeing Roof's photos from on set. He told me at one point "that's what I do!" when he's filming a movie. I guess so! I have a photo he sent me from the Savage Land set. I'll see if I can dig it up and post it. It's pretty cool. He's very talented. Loved the Dangerous Beauty/Dark City fan impressions. He actually got up from the table and acted it out for my husband when we were in London. Again, I'm so pleased with the Director's Cut. Yay. Rai

Watched the Shell Beach documentary today. Great seeing Roof's photos from on set. Some of those pics were REALLY good! I'd love to see what he's done since then, as he said he'd just started. LOL. I wonder if my best friend was one of those Dangerous Beauty fans, as she ran into Ruf at a restuarant here in LA a few years back. Actually, they were seated next to each other at a bar in a restaurant and she looked next to her - and much to her surprise - there was Ruf! She said she told him how much she loved him in DB and how it was one of her fav movies.
