I've been following news about the unbelievably strong storms that have been blowing across the Midwest today and kept thinking about Rueful (near Chicago). This has been a horrible storm, with extremely high winds and tornadoes. Yikes! So, Rueful, when power gets restored to your home check in and tell us how bad it got for you!

Ooh, I hadn't heard about this - hope you and your family and home are all okay, Rueful.

I live in Indiana and it got really ugly here around noon. Last time we had winds like this was in September 2009 from hurricane Ike, and we lost power for a week. Hope all is well near Chicago!

Still hanging on! (I'm the one on the bike. ;D ) Seriously, we're fine, thanks very much for asking. There were some scary moments while I was driving--the rain was blowing sideways, streets were flooded, and there were a lot of branches coming down, but we had no major damage around here. The electricity didn't even go out in our house. Bizarre, because we usually lose power if someone sneezes too hard.

Pleased to hear you're ok Rueful. I hope it blows over soon.
With all these lovely new pictures of Rufus it would be a particularly bad time to have a power cut.

I'm glad to hear that you had no serious damages - I can remember the nasty feeling in these circumstances only too well...

Glad to hear all's well, Rueful. I was on a tour bus once in Louisiana in sideways rain - very scary!

Love the pic, Rueful! Glad to hear you made it through the storm. (And you, too, Kygal!) After hearing about all the tornados (in places that don't normally get tornados) I was worried!

Today is still very windy, but it's sunny and I think it's supposed to be over by tonight. The storm system is heading eastward, so I hope all of our east coast members manage to hang onto their hats! Kygal, I'm glad you're ok. I hope that you've already seen the worst of it and you'll have calmer weather today. It made me laugh that, the day before, the weather forecasters kept talking about the upcoming "cyclone". They were all so excited, like little kids repeating it over and over, I guess because it's not a word they normally get to use. I always thought it was another word for "tornado," which they certainly talk about often enough here, but apparently not. I was on a tour bus once in Louisiana in sideways rain - very scary! That sounds terrible! Buses always seem so wobbly because of their height. I hope at least it was during Mardi Gras and you had drinks on the bus with you!

I am so happy and relieved that you and your family are safe. May the rest of the seasons bring much milder weather to Chicago !!!

Rue,
Thanks ever so much for posting the pic - it will make it easy to recognize you tomorrow!
And yes, your lovely weather hit us yesterday. I can identify with your feelings about the weather people on TV. It was all storm all the time for a few hours. We actually had a few tornados touch down just north/east of us. Lots of trees down but thankfully no one was injured.

Thanks for your kind thoughts, Diane! Thanks ever so much for posting the pic - it will make it easy to recognize you tomorrow! LOL! But don't be surprised--I've put on a little weight since that picture was taken. Have a safe flight!
