TV Preview: Zen + Q+A
at BAFTA, England - London
Join BAFTA for a preview of the first of three new feature-length dramas based on the best-selling novels by the late Michael Dibdin.
VENDETTA
Aurelio Zen, the charismatic Italian detective, is called upon by the Ministry to investigate a mass murder. The flamboyant millionaire, Oscar Faso and his guests have been shot dead at Faso’s Sardinian villa. The prime suspect is Renato Favelloni, another guest who was conveniently absent at the time of the murders. There was no way in or out and he is the only suspect. But Zen is convinced he is innocent.
Zen heads into the mountains to investigate, reluctant to leave the promise of romance between himself and Tania Moretti, the Chief’s new assistant. But, as he leaves, a second murder takes place. Judge Bertolini, an important man in the Italian judicial system is shot dead in his car. What Zen doesn’t realise is that this unconnected murder is part of a Vendetta carried out by a man who was wrongly imprisoned by Bertolini years before. More importantly, Zen doesn’t realise that his own name was implicated in the case and he is next on the hit-list.
As Zen battles to solve the Faso murders, so the killers draw closer and closer to him. In a climax which sees a frenzied chase through a maze of underground tunnels, Zen apprehends the criminals and solves the Faso murders in one.
Returning to Rome having almost lost his life, Zen and Tania are reunited in a romantic and passionate clinch
The Zen series is produced by Left Bank Pictures for the BBC in association with Mediaset, Masterpiece on PBS and ZDF, with additional funding from BBC Worldwide, Ingenious and Lipsync. The films will be released theatrically worldwide and screened on BBC One.
This screening will be following by a Q&A with cast members Rufus Sewell and Caterina Murino, producer Michael Casey and director, John Alexander.
£7.50
