Thanks, GE2.....I'm not sure I could have waited any longer...shouldn't you be in bed, or you too excited to sleep? (Think I know the answer to that one already.)

Yes, I should be in bed (I have a bloke coming to fix my front door first thing) but I'm waiting for the camera battery to re-charge, then I'll see if I can upload the pics. Failing that, there's some sort of bridge thingy that I'll have to buy!

My first thought when I saw Maz' picture was " , that's a nice artistic shot " and "I like that smart coat she's wearing" WTF? Look who she's with (!!), that's the truly wonderous thing! We are so used to looking at sooo many pics of Ruf I think it took my brain a few seconds to register Maz was standing there earlier today with HIM, in the flesh, for real. That's so AWESOME, and I am so happy Maz and you other lucky ducks got to see the Zen screening, see each other and to have some moments with Mr. Loveliness himself. Thanks for sharing your photo with us, Maz (you must be pleased it turned out so well) and I can't wait to see/hear more about the Q & A and the meeting and more pics please from those who went. Great to read the tweet about how well Rufus did as Zen. Though it comes as no surprise, it's still nice to hear. While reading the books one could tell what a great natural fit he would be for that character, physically and intelligence-wise, and I can't wait to see it for myself someday.

I cannot wait to see the pics and I cannot wait to see Zen

A perfect evening in every way:
It was a lovely meeting with the other rooftop ladies (and their husbands). Sorry we didn't take another group photo.
Liked 'Zen' a lot, especially the close-ups larger than life. The Q & A about the shooting of Zen was interesting...
Meeting him in person is indescribable: Let me try it with so good looking and funny. Rufus is such a sweet soul, and very patient with all of us.
Thank you, Rai, for this great opportunity. Think you already got my PM ?! Thank you, Rufus, for a wonderful time.
Will upload my picture as my new avatar when I am back home.

Well, two of them, anyway! (reproduced with permission from the lucky ladies) Rufus with Maz And Rufus with Nell. And I know you won't believe me, but I didn't even realise he was looking right at me as I was taking the pics - so I'm very sorry, Nell and Maz, that he's looking the wrong way in the ones on your cameras! Sorry, too, that the camera "flared" a little on you both. In all the excitement (and tiredness) last night, I forgot to say how wonderful it was to meet up with the other Rooftoppers, at long last! A lovelier bunch of Rufaholics you couldn't wish to meet, and we all agreed how fantastic it was to be with a group of like-minded ladies where we didn't have to hold back and could gush about Rufus as much as we liked. I only wish we could have spent longer together (next time?!) And thank you to the two very patient, or as Rufus put it "long-suffering", husbands in attendance. I didn't see their eyes roll even once! Finally, a public thank you Rai for tipping off Rufus - from what I saw, it was clear that if he hadn't known about us being there, he'd have gone straight away after the screening. So three huge cheers for Rai from me!

What an absolutely brilliant night, although at first I thought we were going to miss it as we couldn't find the building! Anyway, when we got there I popped my head into the auditorium to see if the others were already seated and noticed a few coats placed on the front row and said to Umberto (my husband), bet they belong to the others......and how right was I! ;D We went through to the members bar and saw Lassie, Nell and GL and then met Maz and Annie, Nell pointed out that Rufus was also in the Bar at the other end and when I looked around I noticed a few other familiar faces from British TV, one notably Greg Wise (another of my favourite actors), so I was in heaven, Rufus and Greg in the same room . We then made our way to our seats but unfortunately, I could not sit on the front row as I don't think my neck would have lasted the 90 Minutes, so we decided to sit higher up - what a good move that was, as when the "actors" came in Rufus was sat two rows behind us and I could hear his beautiful voice as he was talking to the others prior to Zen being screened. Zen was wonderful, he portrayed him brilliantly, he is such a charismatic character and OMG how good did he look in it, I know we have seen little snippets of it but on the big screen he is so handsome and that lift scene, well it sure does linger........ After the screening, Rufus, Caterina and the producer Andy Harries went on the stage to take questions, first from I think a Bafta guy and then questions from the audience. One woman in the audience asked him something ridiculous, which made us cringe and you could see he was not comfortable about it either (sorry, but the other girls are going to have to help me here as can't remember exactly what it was, other than it had something to do with him being romantic, handsome and something else) and then she persisted with the same question but to Caterina. Another woman asked Caterina, if she preferred playing opposite Aurelio Zen or James Bond?? Caterina was slightly embarrassed, I think, from this. When this finished, Nell and I made a dash for the ladies and GE2 came with us, the next thing we hear Alison shout in the ladies, "Helen, are you in here, quick he is going (or something along those lines), well you never saw us move so quickly, we got back into the auditorium and he was just about to leave, so we asked him if we could have a few bits signed, I asked him if he remembered me from the Vinyan Q&A, as I wanted him to sign my photo with him and he said "course I remember you" well whether he was being polite or not, this made my night He was a true gentlemen, we managed to have our photos taken, even though some Bafta person kept trying to get him away, but unfortunately were not able to ask him about any future projects and there was no chance to record the meeting as it was completely different to the Vinyan Q&A, I think that if it had been in an ordinary cinema and not Bafta, we would probably have been able to get more. We then went to the bar again for a drink and as GE2 said, Rufus was again at the other end with the cast and crew of Zen, having drinks and canapes, when he left he did stop to briefly chat again and as he was wearing a scarf (a bit like the one that Dr Who used to wear), Umberto said to him that he would have made a great Dr and he did answer, but will have to ask Umberto what his reply was as I was standing further away and did not catch it. When we left (which was just after he did ;D) they were still outside, Umberto had a photo with Caterina before they all left to go to a swanky Italian restaurant and as we were walking to the station Helen said that she noticed a cab with "Sewell" in the window, more observant than me but to be honest I think that by that stage the wine had kicked in, as I had not eaten since a small sandwich at midday (too nervous to eat anything else!). I will upload photos later this evening as am currently at work. A big, big THANK YOU to Rai , as without her intervention we would not have been able to meet him as Bafta are very strict with their rules and thank you to all the other ladies on the night for making a great evening! BTW - GL mentioned something that Rufus referred to us as "friends of his", GL will have to confirm this as I did not hear it.

First of all I must say what a pleasure it was to meet all the rooftoppers who went last night. I managed to meet up with several of them before the we went into BAFTA and I felt really welcome. Zen is going to be a brilliant drama series and will show Roof's wonderful sense of humour and impeccable comic timing as one lady in the audience put it. Loved it when Roof said that he loved doind comedy and when he left college he was acrtually worried he might get cast as a comedy actor. Fortunately that very gifted and talented man can act in anything. Roof looked totally gorgeous of course and was as has often been said a PRINCE and he treated us like princesses ! I was very impressed when he told the VIP's, who wanted to drag him away that he couldn't leave the theatre yet because he had arranged to meet some friends and that was us !!!!!!!!!!!!!!! First of all he greeted Germanlady and then Lassie with a kiss and then me !!!!!!! I was thinking 'Roof is kissing me ! My face is touching his." His skin felt very manly ! I was very impressed with Lassie who started to talk about the Zen bookS with Roof. She might want to tell you more later. Then, Nell's (?) husband took my photograph with Roof. Nell will be able to tell you what Roof said to him. After all the photographs etc. were taken and Roof had left the theatre we had a lovely time chatting in the bar. I stayed until Roof left BAFTA around 9.30pm and we shared some quick comments with him before he left. Outside there were a lot of what I call 'professional' autograph hunters those that sell them at conventions etc. I'm trying to post my picture, but it won't upload, not sure why will try again in a moment. [/img] Maybe I've attached it somewhere ! Attachments:

And I know you won't believe me, but I didn't even realise he was looking right at me as I was taking the pics I know what you're saying, I realized he had hugged me just after seeing the photo, and the first time I was almost completely absent. I'm glad you've reached them. And I'm very happy for you all, I know how much exciting is to be close to Rufus and get his sparkling energy. Perhaps Rai knows if he enjoyed the card and what he thought, really! Manuelaaaaaa and Annie! Thanks for the complete report! Also a german lady, friend of mine, who knew the Dibdin books, seeing my pics of Rufus as Zen, did told me he was perfect for that role, just right Aurelio Zen, so I think he will have a great success and it will be deleted his image of villain from the mind of the audience, forever.
