Myself and a few others I know found the book hard going and quite boring. In fact I found it hard to keep going with it enough to finish but I did. I know it won the booker prize or some such. It is very well written, probably too much so for me. I think it will make a good film though and although Rufus doesn't fill the profile in looks of Carlos Grace, I am sure he will do a fine job. I can imagine him playing the part and the rest of the cast Ciaran Hinds, I like, to play the main part who goes back over his life, Sinead Cusak to play his wife, who actually is not really in the book as she has died at the beginning and that is why he is going back, so that in itself is interesting. I hope Rosamund Pyke plays Mrs Grace, just cannot remember her name and then the other main part is another female, I think the actress was named at one time but have forgotten who it is.

I liked the book, but imagining Rufus as Carlos helped, I'm sure. Got through it in just a couple of days, since it's so short.

Mrs. Grace's first name is Connie Looks-wise, Rufus really isn't anything like Carlo Grace as he's described in the book, but I still didn't have any trouble imagining him playing this somewhat special character. I'm very excited to see this one in the end.

Thanks for the reviews on the book. I will imagine Rufus in the role so that may help me enjoy it better. Not my usual read.

Same here robela... I really hope, the movie is much more better as the book

That's great news! Thanks for finding and posting , GE2! As to the book: I was very tempted to put it away as boring and then I knew I wouldn't read it any more. But since I was on a journey and I didn't have anything else to read with me, I continued. Then there was a moment when it started to become intriguing and I could not put it away until I had finished reading it. ;D

Same here robela... I really hope, the movie is much more better as the book Kate reminded me PGG that Mrs Grace's name is Connie, who we hope is to be played by Rosamund Pyke, and the other actress whose name I couldn't remember (old age) , is Charlotte Rampling. I'm sure it will make a really good film as I do agree with Walt, about three quarters through the story gets intriguing and you want to know the ending which doesn't disappoint. I think the story lends itself better towards a visual film. The added bonus is that they are filming in the very place in Ireland where the book is set, which I am sure will be stunning. Can't wait to see it.
