I'm currently taking a break from being Grouchy the Christmas Elf (I've just finished making my billionth batch of jam...) and as I was thinking about the hilarious holiday greetings posted by Judy (if you haven't seen them yet, stop reading now and go see them rufussewell.proboards.com/index.cgi?board=offtopic&action=display&thread=1610...I mean it! Go now!) Anyhoo...I got to thinking that awards season is coming up, and wouldn't be a hoot if we had our own awards...instead of the Oscar, we could award the Rufus for things like Best Cap It, Best Fan Fiction, etc... I have some ideas of how this could work, but I might need some help. Let me know if anyone else thinks that this might be fun, and if there's enough interest, we'll work something out! |

Ok, so here's what I was thinking.
First, the time frame is between Jan 1, 2010 and December 31, 2010. We could come up with a handful of categories (such as the ones I already mentioned.) We would need to come up with a (virtual) Golden Rufus, or some such....
I was thinking that once the categories were set, we could open it up for nominations (say for a month) then when the nominees were finalized, put it to a vote (say for another month). Then we could have a lot of fun naming the winners and awarding the Golden Rufus....with some of the creative types on this board, I think it could be a lot of fun. It could be the FIRST ANNUAL ROOFTOP GOLDEN RUFUS AWARDS...sound classy, dunnit?

Very classy - I like it! I'll have to catch up a lot of posts of the last year though, cause I just joined the Rooftop. Maybe we could ask someone special whose name starts with an R to officially announce and present the awards.  |

 , I am so there.....actually, I was thinking something more along the lines of some cap-its for the occasion, but if someone here can pull off a miracle, I'm all for that.... Since it seems like we like the idea, if anyone has any suggestions for categories, let me know. I like the best cap-its, and best fan fiction, but I was also thinking along the lines of worst Rufus interviewer (because some of them were real twits!) best Rufus interviewer. If anyone else has any catagory ideas, let me know! |

I think your awards thought is brilliant with the exception of an award for fan fiction .
As a writer of fan fiction , I would like to say that there are only three of us Rooftoppers writing and so it might be a bit invidious not to say inhibiting to vote for who is best .

I see your point. What about the best particular story for the last year? BTW, I also was thinking about leading up the winners by announcing the runners up...this is supposed to be fun after all and it would be nice to see as many people recognized as possible.
So, really, when I think about it like that, if we have enough catagories to get as many people recognized as possible, even if there are only 3 of you currently submitting to fan fiction, why shouldn't you be awarded for your creativity?
I'd like some other fan-girlies feelings on this please....
P.s. I guess my feeling on this is not WHO is best, just which story is a favorite...

Great idea rumantic. I like the idea of best fanfic story too. I'm quite a bit behind though so will obviously only be able to vote on what I've actually read. It sounds like fun.  |

ok, so I was trying to make the Golden Rufus in Photoshop, and right now I'm so frustrated I could spit, so if one of you lovely ladies is proficient in Photoshop and would be willing to make the Golden Rufus, I would really really appreciate it. (I was trying to put Roof's head on the oscar, and then I was gonna make the whole thing gold again...)
