Do you realize what you have started Ellie? This analysis could take pages! We'll all look up from our screens one day and say, "Is summer over already?" Some fantastic person has put some EH clips up on Youtube, and this one (from Containment) shows a bit of the swagger at the beginning and the end of the scene. You'd think it would be hard to swagger in a labcoat, but he manages to carry it off. Sexy nerd! www.youtube.com/watch?v=pFkv7xBORRI OMGGGG! It's Freak from the Renewal Campaign! WOOT!

God, Hood makes me want to cry...he's so sensitive and lovely!!! Why can't men be like that in real life? I see the swagger and only Rufus can carry it off in a lab coat.....you gorgeous man. I wish I had a tutor at uni that looked like that, I'd never go home!!! rueful, thanks for posting that link, I very happy knowing I can just click a button and watch the beautiful Rufus in a lab coat, as you say, very sexy nerd, a very big turn-on for me!

Well, we sure appreciate her efforts (and your nagging, if that's what's pushing her ).

I just finished watching the two DVDs. If any of you want to read the story in the Illiad, just the outline, go here: academic.reed.edu/humanities/110Tech/Iliad.Outline.htmlFrom the sounds of it, I doubt I would want to read it in full, sounds very confusing and complicated and LONG. As to the movie, I'm slowly making my way through all the Rufus movies. Although Aggie was a real evil person, Rufus made me cry when he killed the little girl and his face showed every emotion going through him. And again when he told the story to Helen when she came to trade herself. I can't get over at how expressive his face and eyes are when acting. Now I have a pic on my computer screen of him in the bath just before his wife killed him. Thanks to the poster that included it here in the Helen of Troy thread. He sure looks gorgeous in the pic!

I agree, GE2, whoever Gabriela is, she's a true genius. Last shot of the Helen of Troy montage was priceless and surely an outtake from the movie, no?

I agree with you all ..wonderful montage If it is our Gabi .. well done you !! I must confess to having a sneaky regard for Helen of Troy . Everone knocks it and there are some actors who are in line for my award for outstandingly awful performances Sienna Guillory, Matthew Marsden)....but it does have Aggie , so gorgeous and wonderful and sexy and beautiful and masculine ...need I go on ? Such wonderful Tripe.

Having now watched the DVD, I previously only saw this on youtube but hubby expressed an interest in watching so felt it only fair to oblige ! ;D
The positives - I did enjoy the film. I thought the story was well told. Having tried to sit through "Troy" a couple of times & couldn't get into it the story telling in HOT I felt was far better. Rufus really brought Aggie to life I felt, a wonderful mix of evil, tormented, lustful and messed up. He threw himself into the role and somehow managed to show an edge of vulnerability to the character - the look on his face when he knew he had to kill his daughter, you felt pity for him for having to do the deed. He also showed glimmers of tenderness - when he touched Helen's face. Lust the way his eyes followed Helen around the room. His face showed pure contempt towards his wife - the last scene in the bath, all I could see there was pure contempt and a bit of what the hell is she doing thrown in. Aggies wife was well played I thought and Emillia Fox (sorry can't remember character name) also did a pretty good job. Did I mention that Rufus also looked pretty damn hot. Even with a beard. What is happening to me ?
The not so good
The effects certainly were "special" - the boats looked like and probably were a drawing totally fake. I did think Helen was pretty but something didn't quite gel - I think it was probably overdone on the childlike bit - I mean compare the performance with Shirley Henderson's Shrew. The epic battle scenes were frankly a bit silly - the arrow bit with all nicely lined up arrows. Although Aggies hand to hand combat made up for this I felt. Who the hell cast James Callis and Aggies younger brother - every time he looked like he might have a scrap I just wanted to shout (and sometimes did much to hubby's amusement) "Fight... It's a Real Fight !" (Bridget Jones style).
p.s. must also add had to go back and watch the market scene fight between Aggie & Paris after reading this thread. TE he he - although lovely as Rufus's thighs are they seemed to have bulked up a bit here I thought. Perhaps the stunt double & not our Rufus at all ! haha Rufus got the last laugh.
Also loved the youtube clip Gabriela added to the thread especially the wave at the end. Priceless !

nell, i ROTFL'ed reading your "not so good" part - totally hilarious and to the point. although i think you are too nice towards this pitiful production.
the best point in it was rufus, by far, even without being a fan anyone can see it.
another good point was that HOT is a good source of rufus stills.

I agree tipou, you are too nice towards this cheap tv production. And I agree nell, Emillia Fox was in the role of Cassandra very good, Rufus was the best, of course!!! I love that R. in each his bad guy role, give a bit of humanity - no one is just bad or just good, and he has the gift to give to each his character very sensivitely. So, and if you understand what I just wrote, you´re good. ;D

you are very understandable, do not worry about it at all. i have to say though, a baddy is a baddy, and i still cannot CANNOT cAnNoT find anything lovable about Agamemnon as depicted in this tv dud. yes, Rufus is good, that is a given. but if this role had been handled by someone else, equally well even, we would be able to make abstraction of "Rufus Sewell" and see what a despicable bastard Aggie is. we would certainly not try to find "good" reason for him to murder his daughter, or to be a rapist. and PLEASE spare me the references to greek mythology and beliefs, i read them already, and they still did not convince me. think: ok, it is one thing to show that baddies too have a heart, however small, but lets face it, if we fall in love with every baddie he plays, we may be passing along the message that Rufus is maybe not that good . not to be mean, but i suspect some of my Rufus-board-Sisters would fall in love with Rufus all over again even if he played Jabba the Hut in Star Wars XVII. we have, at some point, to make a difference between the drool bucket worthy hunk , and his work as an actor, which would still be exceptional even if he actually looked like Jabba the Hut. ;D GIRLS: it is OKAY to wish we could throw tomatoes at the screen while watching The Holidays . it is in fact an hommage to Rufus to want to. i am sorry if i offend anyone, but i kind of had it on my cinephile chest for a while. ok, i voiced my opinion, and now i will go hide behind the curtains of shame.

no no, tipou, come out from behind that curtain.
I personally don't feel offended at all because I think you're perfectly right.
I find your observations very interesting and maybe because I saw HOT only on youtube, I totally agree with you. I love Rufus' performance as always, but this baddie does not cause the effects other baddies of him did.
But probably I should read the entire thread first (which normally I don't before I haven't seen the DVD at least twice).
