Woo hoo !!!! That was brilliant. Ratking was my least favourite of the first 3 books and the tv adaptation just turned the whole thing on it's head and became my favourite. The opening scene was kind of the Cabal opening scene in the books so although the cases have followed in a different order on the relationship side things have gone at a similar pace. I loved the flow of the story, the different threads running at the same time and of course Dottor Zen. I love the way he gets those in high places eating out of the palm of his hand. Everyone talks about how likeable he is - but I'm seriously in love It's go to be said he's simply adorable. There's also a classic morning after armpit shot cute pj's too! awwwww!!! For those of us that like that sort of thing of course ;D I'd recalled from the book it doesn't work out exactly to plan but somehow our Aurelio manages to come up smelling of roses. We simply have to have more episodes of this, they can't leave it hanging in the air like that..... can they ? I want more, more, more..........................................pretty please !!!!!

I agree with you Nell. Tonight's episode became my favourite, though I thought the book was one of my least favourite.

There's also a classic morning after armpit shot I know! Mentioned that on the last page - and I swear there was a wink!

LOVED IT! Absolutely LOVED IT! I think Rufus must have snuck that Morning After Armpit shot in just for us. Just like he got the Joaquin Phoenix and Courtesan bits worked into the previous script. He knew we'd love it.

Loved it! Third one is now my favourite. I take back what I said last week - SPOLIER - I felt kinda bad for Zen when Tania left at the end, but at least he's Chief now It's a shame there's no more (for now!), I really, really enjoyed the series, so funny and really good stories. I'll have to read the books and see how the TV ones compare. Fingers crossed it's not the end of Zen

Missed the first 15 minutes unfortunately, but I'll catch up with that tonight - wanted to do that anyway but the screencaps make me want to see it NOW! Another wonderful episode which I enjoyed very much (aided by the cream liqueur and chocolate Mr. Kate brought me upstairs to go with my weekly dose of Zen ) I started watching when Zen was talking to Miletti's family. I laughed out loud when the desk broke down (finding it all the funnier when I realized what a creep that guy was, going on about Zen's relationship with Tania and all!) And then another of those mood swings they do quite well in the series with Tania telling Zen about the baby she lost and the way her marriage went down the drain. Beautiful shots in that scene, reminding me of one of my favourite Rufus photos: The money-counting scene was very yummy too And while I feared that Zen would have to spend some time in prison when they wrestled him to the ground in the station and took him away, I should have known that he had another card up his sleeve - priceless how he opened the suitcase to show the stack of newspapers and dryly recommended the little bar where he'd got them All in all I found this episode a bit more somber than the other ones. Very touching when Aurelio thanked Mamma and told her he loved her before setting out with the money suitcase, and when he spoke to Silvio about his father's death I just wanted to give him a great big hug. And again when Tania left; he looked quite disappointed that she wanted to be alone and sort things out by herself when he had been prepared to help her through it. What surprised me totally was when Tania's ex went mad I was quite afraid that at least one of them would get seriously hurt and have to admit that I was a bit relieved when he turned the gun on himself. The case was not as complicated this time, but had some nice twists to it to keep up suspense (I was really surprised at the end!) And poor Aurelio got pushed around quite a lot, first in the station, then narrowly escaping Tania's mad ex-husband, and finally getting hit on the head and passing out ... ouch! The little car chase was nicely shot, kind of dazed, just as Aurelio must have felt. The last few scenes were great again, they always wrap up the episode very nicely - first the money bag outside the convent, then the ex-boss in the elevator (did Aurelio really say "We sha**ed on your desk"? ) and the final scene in Zen's new office. (I slept very badly tonight - not Zen's fault - and kept hearing him answering that phone over and over ) Apart from wonderful Rufus I've come to like Ben Miles as Amedeo Colonna in all his ambivalence, he's very convincing in this role. They simply MUST do the other books as well, they cannot get that clever, gorgeous-looking and so amazingly green-eyed Zen promoted and then "game over"!

Loved episode three ! Roof was passionate, romantic , funny and moving, all in one episode. Also, understood the plot ;D. In fact had more or less worked it out about half way through, but I still think it had a nice little twist at the end. Now looking forward to the DVD !

Loved it! Agree that they just got better and better. Loved the desk scene. Very emotional with his mother. Felt sorry for him when Tania left but he handled it well. Not sure what he was wearing in the money scene (refer to Numbat) but liked seeing some skin...especially legs! LOVED the end "chief Zen".
Really left the door wide open for more Zen. Surely it did well enough to have more eps. Loved seeing him weekly again...eventhough it was just 3 weeks. Love him as a lead good guy in a series. I liked him as a cop!
Really sad that we may have a dry spell when we have had such a plentiful year. Hopefully he/we will have something new to look forward to soon!

That look on his face when Tania left And when she tells him about the Baby And I loved the moment he tell his mother how thankful he is and how much he loved her... that look in his eyes I really loved the Scene with the desk ;D And the End... that was so cool he walked down that corridor and enter the Chief´s Room... Chief Zen Yaaayyy

Don't have time to do a proper review just yet, but this was definitely my favourite episode (and i loved both the others as well!!) But i have got time to say this: I thought i'd died and gone to heaven!!! He was wearing his summer pj's - shorts & singlet, sexy legs, bare feet & biceps ;D Oh and of course i have to mention the dreaded Morning After Armpit. Which we love to hate because it means that we just have to imagine what went before rather than getting to see it!!! But at least our darling Tania managed to get him bare chested - at least she has some uses. But still not sure i trust her not to break his heart. Loved it (am convinced that the Miletti siblings were vampires though!!!)

Absolutely!!!! They were obviously Volturi - i loved the scene where Zen was talking to them in the drawing room with them both in the ornate chairs and the husband standing behind. And when she kissed him - i was certain she was going to bite him! Mmmmmm, now i'd like to see that
