Hello. Being a new member, I would love to hear the stories of how you met Rufus. When it was, were you overwhelmed, how exciting it was, how charming was he. I can imagine he is quite flirtatious, especially with his mischievous smile. So please tell and please donot miss a single moment. Love Ophelia xx Ps if you have any photos of your moment, I would love to see them xx

Thank you. Judy What wonderful accounts. Glo meeting him twice, what a lucky lady you are. Great great photos. What a beautiful gentleman he is He was in such a deep conversation with you. I love how he talks with his hands. Manuela meeting him after Vinyan. I recognised Manuela from the utube video. I remember it because a woman had a photo taken with Rufus but then had to ask who he was Nutter!!! Here the clip www.youtube.com/watch?v=jzoS1UwsPA0And Nell, I bet you were wishing you were sitting on his knee and this gorgeous gentleman waited for you, while you were in the loo Very very funny! Thank you again Judy very enjoyable. Like yourself very jealous that they met THE man. but happy that they have a wonderful memory. Hopefully one day,I will meet the man. I have waited nearly 20 years, so maybe just a little bit longer. But sooner than later, as slowly everything is heading south and I would like to look good with my encounter with Mr Sewell. ;D I met Rufus in London after watching him on stage (Rock 'n' Roll) I was walking past the small road leading to the back stage when I saw one of the other actors coming out and I turned to my friend and said "Oh shame it's not Rufus" but then there he was. He kindly signed some books etc and spoke kindly to the people. I turned to my friend to ask her to come with me to take my photo with him. But she was suddenly on the phone to her boyfriend (even though I asked her to ignore it!) so I went on my own. He was just about to run past me when I touched his arm and asked if I could take his picture (the one time I didn't have a pen so I couldn't ask for an autograph). He hesitated, looked at Alice Eve, who was hovering in the background. Then looked at me with those eyes and smiled. "Okay as long as it's a quick one" While I took the photo I jabbered on nervously about how he must hate having his photo taken and I was sorry to hold him up. But he dismissed my apology with a smile. He told me that he didn't mind and that it was okay because he would just blame me if he got into trouble for being late. (he said this laughing). After chatting about the play for a while, Alice Eve patted him on the shoulder and he asked me "Are we done here?" and I nodded. Then he winked at me (I think) before he ran across the road. It was all such a blur that its hard to remember much more. But I do remember thinking what a lovely sweet man he was. He still had some of the powder in his hair that they used to make him look old. I think it was baby powder because that was the smell coming from him. Everytime I smell baby powder it reminds me of him. Which would explain why I always use it on the kids when they go swimming. Thank you so much Dip I knell in awe at your feet. What wonderful meeting. He is just so generous and kind to his fans. When you touched his arm, did you tingle ? Very cheeky of him to blame you if he got in trouble for being late and a gorgeous wink at the end. Love that he smelt of baby powder. Pure Magic Great photo, maybe next time you will be with him. I posted something similar to this when I joined Rooftop in November 2010, but here goes:
I had waited for Rufus outside the Duke of York's after a matinee on a very cold, wet day in August 2006, but he didn't come out. I didn't returm to the theatre till October. again after a matinee. This time Rufus did come out. He was with co-star Alice Eve.
There was one other girl ( an American) waiting to thank him for giving her help on getting into drama school or something. This is quite common, I have seen other girls outside theatres and at Q and A's asking actors for drama school advice !
When she went that left me, Roof and Alice. I told him I had previously waited in the rain for him and he said 'Oh, I'm sorry, but I don't always go out to dinner.' Then I asked if he would sign my copy of the Rock'n' Roll playtext and I mentioned that I had contact with some friends of his (they know who they are!) and he said jokingly 'Oh! That lot!'.
I asked if I could have a photo of him and he said 'Would you like to be in it ? He handed my camera to Alice and asked her if she would take a photo of us. Alice kept switching my camera off and I thought the battery had gone, but Roof said 'No. It's her. She keeps switching it off!' and then he explained to Alice how to use MY camera!
She took one photo and he said 'No. That won't do I had my eyes closed. You will have to take another.' The final picture is the one I am currently using as my avatar. Rufus and Alice then went to dinner.
Roof was right about the first picture his eyes were closed. I didn't know til later that his hobby was photography.
Second time I met Rufus was at the premiere of Zen with some of the other girls on here and the third time with nell in December at the carol concert in Chelsea.
Rufus is very charming and he kissed me the second and third times we met! Still recovering.
He recognised me from Zen in Chelsea, but NOT at the Zen premiere. I think he might recognise me again if I had the privelege of meeting him again in the near future (one can dream!), but I don't think he knows my name.

OMG OMG OMG You have met Rufus 3 times. I have been waiting for nearly 20 years. Where do you live, maybe if I stand next to you I have a better chance of meeting him. He sounds so relaxed and to say that he had closed his eyes in the first photo and for Alice to take another shot. What a star and a great photograph And to receive a kiss from him, I am definitely standing next you. Thank you so much Anniem

You are all so lucky to have met him! I can only dream and hope that one day I'll be able to as well.... Just to see him in passing would be a thrill, but to actually talk to him and share a gaze with those eyes and for those of you who actually got a kiss!! Hopefully someday I can. I know it will be a miracle, but you've got to have dreams, right? For now, I'll live vicariously through you.

Thank you Nell How wonderful that he recognised you both, you obviously left a huge impression on him. I think you found your vocation as an interviewer Nell. Great questions. It was great to know from his own words about The Sea and The Ushers and when the right role came his way for theatre, he would look forward to returning to the stage. Very exciting. How adoreable that he signed Rufus and then added an arrow with Roof and then both of you receving a kiss. To sweet for words Please think of me if there is an occasion for meeting this wonderful man again. Anniem and yourself have the touch. Thank you Sweetie Love Ophelia

Thank you all for sharing your experiences. I have read about the meetings mostly before here on the forum, but it is very nice to have it in one place. If he is going to do a play or we know in advance that he is attending an event in London, I will do everything possible in my power to be there.
