ok so the oscars are done now what a boring show but it does not matter, collin won!!!!!! lovely acceptance speeches too, if they were always that funny and endearing i am sure they would not impose time limits. the girls had ok dresses, some great ones, but no major fashion schock. as for the hosts, anne hathaway did the best she could, and james franco, unsurprisingly, sucked. i kwas on a blog on ctv.ca, and all those hosts and reporters came on and chatted with us, some from hollywood, even from the red carpet, it was a blast. towards the end of the chat, hosts became a little bit less inhibited in their comments, and started wondering about james franco's ability to have any facial expression or to look into a camera while he spoke!! i loved kirk douglas, was proud of celine, disappointed that the canadian movie did not win, cheered for aaron sorkin, and so on, and so forth. picture this: i chatted with ben mulroney, tv host of the entertainment canada show, and son of prior canadian minister brian mulroney! you now have to show me some respect, people.

Sounds like you had a wonderful Oscar night! I hadn't heard or read or seen anything before logging on this morning and was almost sure that, as always, my favourite wouldn't win, so it was a lovely surprise to see that the wonderful King's Speech DID win after all and so did Colin Firth. I'll have to see if I can catch up with some Oscar snippets on TV or the web - but I believe you instantly when you say JF sucked (as always ).

LOL! I didn't watch any of the program, but I follow several comedians on Twitter who "live-Tweeted" it. They all were of the opinion that Franco had smoked a few "special" cigarettes prior to the show and was high as a kite.

On the subject of the Oscars and Mr Franco... I see he had a nomination!!!! I haven't seen the film. What was he playing ? His well known impersonation of a block of wood?

He's in "127 Hours", the story of climber Aron Ralston that was all over the media a few years ago when he fell into a crevice and had to amputate his own arm that was trapped under a large rock to avoid starving to death. Our cinema showed a preview of that yesterday - looks like two hours of Franco screentime *yuck* Not quite as wooden as in T&I, though (but still I hated the thought that he might be handing the Oscar to himself!)

LOL, Tipou...
I'd like to respectfully add, I did think the part where Franco came out in a ball gown was pretty funny, and I thought Hathaway had a few funny gags as well, but I agree that for the most part it was very dull.
What was up with Scarlet Johannson's hair? Did anyone else notice this? Every time she was on screen I said some version of "Her hair looks terrible! Whover did that to her should be fired!" (and believe me, I'm not someone who usually notices someone's hair, that's how bad it was...)
Glad to see Colin Firth win.
And I'm a Jackman fan (he could put his shoes under my bed...wink...) so I was glad he got as much face time as he did.
I also thought Kirk Douglas was a hoot.

Didn't get to see the Oscar Ceremony just watched the interviews shown on BBC (hate) and ITV morning shows with the winners and a few other celebs. Thank you for all the comments about the actual show. I miss seeing it. It used to be shown on t.v. here in England in the dark ages. Glad that Colin Firth won and the team from The Kings Speech.4 Oscars good for british films. We need Rufus to get a good part in a major film. Especially if Zen does not carry on.! NO NO that won't happen.

Watched the recording this morning with the fast forward button - James Franco was really annoying, Anne Hathaway was okay. Happy that Colin Firth and The King's Speech won. Kirk Douglas was funny and even though I was afraid in the beginning that he would lose track, he got better and better the longer he was on stage ;D But all in all a boring show.

(and believe me, I'm not someone who usually notices someone's hair, that's how bad it was...) i think scarlett looked fabulous. her hair had that "morning after" feeling that was totally a part of the whole look, and i dont know why people did not get it. it was a mix of hollywood glamour and white trash that was very refreshing, imho.

again, i see that everyone is glad collin won. on the blog, there were nice comments about others' favourites, but never a nasty comment about collin. i think he is respected and certainly there are people who dont like him, but he was certainly not in danger of having rotten tomatoes thrown at him at any time last night. i still think it is too bad that geoffrey rush has not won, he was the instigator of the whole TKS project, apparently. while you dont get an oscar for having a clever idea, still, he was so good in it it would have been proper. still even sadder that Helena b-c did not win. She had that part spot on, and for once she looked normal.
oh!!! also for those who could not see the live show, melissa leo, in her acceptance speech for best supporting actress, totally used the f-word - and it was not prepared, it was just.... thrown in there. seeing her face after that was worth a hundred bucks.

Tipou,
I get the whole bed-head look...I really do. And most of the time that look is great. But I really, really didn't like her hair.....then again I admit that I can be a terrible judge of style (if it's in vogue at the moment, I usually don't like it) so maybe it's just me.
And Colin Firth is a cutie!!! Who could possibly not wish him well!
I agree, that was one of the highlights of the evening!
