Ok, here's our next poll to pick some scenes for the website! As you can see, this includes only films, not TV (don't worry, I have at least 2 more catagories for Charles II) and I'm not including Amazing Grace as it is not out on DVD yet for Maxx to use. I didn't include Paris je t'aime because that is/was on YouTube. I am trying to make sure every film/TV show is included in some catagory, some more than once.
Also, as you vote, be thinking of scenes you liked and post them, so then we can go right into scene selection after we choose a film!
Now GO VOTE! Michelle

Oh well this one is a no brainer for me.
One of these things is not like the other things, One of these things just doesn't belong, One of these things is not like the other things, Can you guess which one before I finish my song?

No-brainer for me, too. Think I might be on the winning team this time!

Don't forget to include comments about scenes you'd like to see. I'm curious about The Illusionist and which scene you have in mind. Heck, I'm curious about Tristan + Isolde...

I like the scene in The Illusionist when Leopold tells Sophia she will do as he says and then knocks over the chair in his fit of pique. The fact that this detail was unscripted adds to the richness of his performance. I do like my Rufus cross!

there is an idea for a poll: favorite angry Roof scene.
There are so many to choose from. The Last Romantics is one long 'angry Roof scene' So is Hank IV...

That's my favorite scene from the Illusionist also but I voted for T&I and my favorite scene from it is where he's asking Tristan if he thinks she has a lover. The depth of emotion in his voice and on his face is heartwrenching.

I agree with Pattirose on the above scene from T+I. It is one I was going to suggest as being very sad and touching.
On a lighter note, I also like the scene where Isolde is arriving and Lord Marke and his sister Edyth are waiting to greet her. Marke turns and says something like What if she's a hag or just won't have me? And the look they exchange when Bragnae steps out first is priceless, as is the look of relief on Marke's face when the beautiful Isolde steps out.
Then, as Rufus is exceptionally good at portraying tenderness, I like the scene in the bedchamber where he's telling Isolde how much he wants to make her happy. It's so bittersweet, knowing what's going to happen.

I do like the one on the bridge too, and also his scene when he finds out about T&I's affair.......but not as much as the ones with him at Isolde's arrival, and the one in the bedchamber. Both of them seem to show his great talent with facial expressions! Michelle

Tristan & Isolde has my vote. I've watched the scene on the bridge many times, and at many speeds, it is my favorite. I also really liked the two scenes where he confronts first Tristan then Isolde. He rips into Tristan down in the dungeon, and ruthy I've never seen him more cross than in this scene. Then the heartrending scene when Isolde tells him all, and the unshed tears are gleaming in his eyes and he takes that one, long, shuttering intake of breath....then leaves the room; portraying the utter heartbreak of a strong man to perfection!!!

Tristan + Isolde so far out in front no one wants to vote? Or is it that everyone agrees? Sixty people and everyone agrees? That has to be a first!
One of my favorite scenes no one has even mentioned--it's when Marke comes back from Aragon with Tristan and he's lost so much, yet he ends up putting aside his grief to console them all.
I also very much like the scene when Isolde comes back from her tryst in the rain and Marke asks her how he can make her happy. It's a funny scene because she kisses him on the forehead with great affection as if he's an old man who must be humored for all of the many kindness he has shown her. Every time I watch that scene I wonder if it was Rufus' suggestion. Based on this scene it has always bothered me that when she is confessing later she says they tried so hard because Tristan loves him. It would have been so much more if she'd said, because we love you. It was a lost opportunity.
I like all of the little market scenes because I see a great affection between Rufus and Sophia that I think is missing between Tristan and Isolde--and is what breaks the picture for me.
Rufus is so wonderful in this film. As in Amazing Grace, it's nearly impossible to pick a single scene.

Well only 11 people voted........but it does look like T&I wins hands down! Do we want to start on scenes? You're right, Maxx......it's hard to pick a favorite, because there are so many magic moments in this film!
I'm only seeing about 5 or 6....maybe 7 scenes listed here........if anyone has any others they want to mention, nows your chance! I'll set that up tomorrow if we're sure we want to declare this the winner.

Well if we'd have chosen The Illusionist it would have been a much simpler choice of scenes--that's for certain.
Is the "Will you always be little men" scene listed? That one is good too. Not much to it but it's a good one. I like the entire lead up to and the confrontation of Isolde. I like how he completely ignores Bragnae and I like his pained resigned intake of breath when he remembers to breath after Isolde has told hiim the worst. Some of Roofs most brilliant stuff has nothing to do with lines of dialogue or big bits.
So it would be really nice to get a diversity of scenes since the idea is to lure potential fans. Maybe everyone can keep that in mind when they are choosing. hum?
Michelle I think we need an avatar with your avatar and uke's in the same frame. Or alternating... lol!

Well if we'd have chosen The Illusionist it would have been a much simpler choice of scenes--that's for certain. Well, it would be easier........but I like T&I much more! I haven't seen the "little men" scene mentioned, but we'll put it in there for the voting! You are so right........Ruf is so good with facial expressions and his eyes......that you can get more out of just watching him than listening to him! Although.......that voice......!!! Yep, good point! Mine is the PRETTY one!!! LOL
