Hi everybody! I've been checking in on this board for the past few days and thought it was time I joined in on the fun. I'm so excited to be one of you now! My name is Meg and I live in South Carolina, USA although I'm originally from scattered areas of East Anglia in England. I first saw Rufus in A Knight's Tale but it wasn't until I saw Amazing Grace in 2008 and then his work in Charles II that I fell head-over-heels in love with the man and have since then seen as many of his films as I possibly can (thank you YouTube! lol) I saw his 9/11: Out of the Blue a couple of days ago and he's not only earned my adoration but he's also earned my respect. How he hasn't gotten every accolade possible is beyond me. He's absolutely amazing at what he does and it blow my mind at how he's still so unknown. I sure as hell know that I've got a terrible case of Rufitis and what can I say....he's a Sew-per sexy fella who Roof-fles my feathers. And I like it

Hello and welcome, Meg! Glad that you decided to join the fun. I have only been around for a few months and simply love this board. Lovely ladies here and lots of Ruf-alicious stuff Another woman infected with this mysterious affliction they call Rufusitis. Someone has to find the cause, I do not want another epidemic on my hands. Well, thank God they say it is incurable but at least not fatal ...The 9/11 poem was one of the first youtube videos I came across after "The Pillars of the Earth" brought this wonderful actor back to mind. I can't watch it often because the subject and Rufus's subtle performance make me cry my eyes out before the first of the four parts has ended, but it's very fine work. And like you I've been wondering why he hasn't been amassing awards by the dozen for his versatile and sensitive acting. By the way, have you already met the dashing Aurelio Zen?

Welcome megagem You are in just the right place. We are all infected by Rufusitus and none of us mind one bit The Taming of The Shrew is my very favourite it's very popular around here. You might want to add it to your collection if you've not seen it. I see you mention Charles 2, good choice and AKT - I think that movie's great fun. Also Tristan and Isolde , In a Savage Land and Woodlanders are all unmissable IMHO plus many more. Enjoy yourself !

Welcome meg glad you decided to join. I agree with you that Rufus should have won some major prices for his work. The more I see of him the more I realise what a versatile actor he is. Loved Charles II as well, and you have to see Zen, Taming of the Shrew and DArk City. Looking forward to see you around the board

Meg,
Welcome to the Rooftop. The only downside to joining is that you will soon find yourself spending much more money than before to purchase Rufus DVDs, audiobooks, etc. But it's all in a good cause - tending to your Rufisitis.

Hi everyone! Thank you all so much for your warm welcoming messages!!! It feels really good to know that I'm definitely not the only one drooling over this man! Probably ought to have mentioned all his work that I've seen: --A Knight's Tale --Legend of Zorro --Amazing Grace (I don't care what he says about the wig he wore, I thought he was adorable) --John Adams --The Holiday --Taming of the Shrew --Uncorked (At Sachem Farm) --The Illusionist (I do agree with him here, though. That moustache was a little ridiculous) --Tristan + Isolde (sweet sweet Marke) --The Woodlanders --Cold Comfort Farm --The Very Thought of You (Martha Meet...) ("I love my mother!" ) --9/11: Out of the Blue --British Film Forever: Magic, Murder, and Monsters I'm terrified to see Dangerous Beauty. I really, really want to, but I'm afraid because I know that it's one of the films that gave him such an estrogen-infused following and since I'm already head-over-heels in love with the man, I'm afraid that if I see it I could end up with a restraining order from him. If I can find out where he is, of course. adina: it's also like the good better best thing except with me, it was good, better, GOOD GOD ALMIGHTY! walt: thanks for the suggestions! I have yet to see Victory or In a Savage Land, but I've seen The Woodlanders, and, like everyone else here (I'm sure) I can't watch the end. He's so so sooooooo lovely as Giles; and I would buy it just to ogle at him, but unfortunately I'd be too distracted with my urge to slap Grace (Emily Woof) repeatedly for not seeing perfection right in front of her. kissmekate: ;D oh I do love me some Charles first thing in the morning! Thank you for that! I have only recently been acquainted with the dashing Mr. Zen, and heard only yesterday that the episodes will be shown on the American station PBS on July 17th --which is when I'll be in England. Fantastic. Oh well. Hopefully after being shown on PBS they'll be put on region 1 dvd. And who knows? Maybe by missing him in Zen, my luck will change and I'll meet him in London! (very, VERY wishful thinking!) nell: I ADORE Taming of the Shrew!! Probably my favourite character of his because he reminds me so much of me, and when I watched the interview he gave on the dvd talking about Petruchio and he mentions that this character in particular is more like him in certain ways than the others he's played... I knew we were destined for each other kygal: I've been to Litchfield Beach! I'm in the Hilton Head Island area right at the bottom of the state near Savannah, GA. Thank you all again for your messages!!!! I'm so happy to be here!

Hi, Meg, and welcome!! No, you are not the only drooler around here. We are fully supplied with buckets and mops on this board. Sounds like you have seen a lot of his work, but you still have a lot of great viewing ahead of you, you lucky woman! Don't forget to see The Pillars of the Earth, another great showcase for his talents. I second the recommendations for Zen (a bit different from the books if you've read them, but still brilliant and entertaining, and dear God, HOOOOOOOOOOOOT) and In a Savage Land, which is now one of my favorites of all his films. It's hard to describe but just beautifully done.
