What a description in one single sentence! I seem to have a penchant for those wormlike enumerations Yes to both! Shortly before telling Louise off for her constant whining, I was quite annoyed by that woman's eternal crying. Catherine lying next to him at the end makes up for it a tiny little bit, but I'd have preferred Catherine or even Nell in the pillow scene. Anyway, it was beautiful to watch the weary king let go of his troubles for a moment of rest.

Well, Kissmekate, the first scene was a nightmare. Charles didn't see his father's execution.
I'm happy you liked the film, it is my big favourite!

Well, Kissmekate, the first scene was a nightmare. Charles didn't see his father's execution. Ah, thanks for clarifying that. I was aware that he certainly didn't stand right by but it might have been that he witnessed the execution from farther away ... I couldn't help comparing the miniseries to the ongoing "Tudors" series with Jonathan Rhys Meyers as Henry VIII. We just had the fourth season of that on German TV, and although it is not uninteresting, they should have taken some pages from the Chuck II playbook. Where they take hours and hours to tediously develop single threads of action, the Charles makers succeeded in putting together a tense and complex plot that doesn't need loooooong periods of explanation. And still: although I didn't remember much more than the name Charles II and a bit about Oliver Cromwell about the historical circumstances, I had no trouble whatsoever to understand what was going on. That's really fine scriptwriting. And while there's plenty of sex and crime/treason going on around Charles, it's never vulgar or voyeuristic, whereas the Tudors often feel like some soap opera in period clothes.

Ekaterina you want no 2. I have that one and it's all on there. Plus the first one is starring some guy called Rufus Newell (sounds a bit dodgy to me) Enjoy !

Plus the first one is starring some guy called Rufus Newell (sounds a bit dodgy to me) Wonder if he's related to some Rufus Sewell who was born in the US in 1940 (as stated on my Dark City DVD) Have fun with Charles, ekaterina!
