i so get what you mean, dippy... as i wrote here somewhere, i like jack nicholson and sean penn and all this lot of intense guys, but watching them act, you see a good actor at work. watching rufus act.... well, you dont. you see the character he brings to life. that is his job, that is what actors are supposed to do. especially in chuck 2, my all time rufus favourite rufrpiece (hey! another entry to our dictionary!). which is good because he is in most of the frames. if he had been bad... oh my god this would have been unsuferable. it would have been also if he had been as intense as jack... all happens in between his brains and his eyes, in his fleeting little twitches, in the moves of his hands, in his unique voice too. am i getting a bit dramatic myself here? god i love the guy. subtlety! intelligence! humility to let the character through! oh my god, it got to be so scarce these days, when jmnes franco's woodenness is mistaken for subtlety and brings awards nominations. i think our generation may have forgotten what acting means. otherwise, rufus would be the shiniest star of them all. well, he is for us, right? because we KNOW.

Oh, you take the word out of my mouth, tipou, I'm totally with you on everything. He never overdoes anything but conveys so much feeling that it's not just a pleasure to watch and absolutely believable but touches something deep inside me like no other actor ever did before. (But, as GE2 likes to say, there are many people who wouldn't recognize subtlety if it smacked them in the face )

zenina, Oh! you are in for a treat watching for the first time. Rufus is wonderful in this part. It was screened in England in 2004 and this is when I truly appreciated his stunning qualities as an actor and how gorgeous he is. I've said the same thing about Zen. Rufus makes this part come to life You truly believe he is Charles II and when you watch the making of the film Rufus explains how he got to the complexities of the character. Kind and loving on the one hand but equally quite ruthless on the other It is marvellous and I think I will watch again too. Can't wait to hear what you think. I know you will love it. Enjoy!

Oh, Zenina, Robela is right, you have SUCH a treat in store. I envy people like you who are watching this for the first time, because Rufus is an absolute revelation in it, so much so that I forget it's him! It's a real masterclass in how to act.
Enjoy - I know you will. (And he looks particularly hunky in the Making Of..., too)

Now I can hardly wait - but I will have to until Saturday as I'm going to the opera tomorrow. I'm sure I will be blown away by his acting and also by his looks as far as I can tell from some pics I have seen (not necessarily the one's where he wears a wig ;D) I have so many films to watch now - but just not enough time - maybe I should take a few days off ;D

HUNKY??? oh my god yes. even in street clothes he stilll looks regal, still a king in his palace. he said often that he is very proud of chuck2, and this shows through in the making of, where he really is different ... as if chuck stuck with him somehow... a treat for the eyes, this whole series.

Does anyone agree with me that he had a little more weight on him back then in 2003 when he filmed Charles II. He looks just as stunningly handsome but latterly his features seem more defined and his body a little leaner??

Possibly because in the Making Of he has had his real hair cut very short to accomodate the wig I would think. He looks just as good whether long or short hair though.

No, you were right, he was a little heavier in that one (I think that was the only film with a fleshier Rufus )
