There's a nice little mention of the Zen DVDs here: Zen: Vendetta/Cabal/Ratking. Adapted from Michael Dibdin's novels, this terrific detective series from the BBC features Rufus Sewell as an honest cop mocked by his colleagues for his hatred of corruption. The three feature-length mysteries in this set were shot in Rome and costar the exquisite Caterina Murino.EDIT: just found another one here: Premiering on PBS's Masterpiece Mystery, the best-selling novels of Michael Dibdin come to life in these breathtaking new adaptations from PBS and the BBC. Aurelio Zen (Rufus Sewell, "John Adams") is a formidable detective, but he's always put honesty before advancement.
The arrival of clever and ambitious Tania (Caterina Murino, "Casino Royale") to the team sees Zen's vigor reawakened. Driven by romance, re-energized and armed with a new confidence, Zen's investigations take him from crowded Rome to the spectacular Italian countryside, as he negotiates a complex string of murder cases, never afraid to question authority or use a few unorthodox methods to see justice done.
Rufus Sewell brings passion, intrigue and humor to author Michael Dibdin's character in this series set against a visually rich backdrop of Rome at its most stunning.

Just found another mention of the Zen DVDs here: Lastly, 'Zen' - a new detective series from the BBC based on the very popular mystery books by British author Michael Dibdin. Aurelio Zen is a Venetian detective exiled to the Roman police force, where he's a bit of an outsider due to his incorruptibility. Like all good mystery show detectives, he refuses to play by the rules but always gets his man. In this TV adaptation, Rufus Sewell ('Dangerous Beauty') is dark, brooding and absolutely gorgeous running around Rome in his black Marcello Mastroianni suit. It's also beautifully and warmly photographed with an excellent retro soundtrack. The only is that like many of the best British series, it's painfully brief - just two discs. Sigh.Nice one - although the suits are NOT black and there's not too much brooding involved.

I was upset our weekend entertainment portion of the newspaper never had anything about Zen. Last Friday, it did show new releases of dvds and showed the Zen dvd, and two other dvds.

Nice one - although the suits are NOT black and there's not too much brooding involved. I agree. Zen is pretty much a happy go lucky kind of guy, all things considered!
