4. Who would you picture playing the leading roles if this book was turned into a movie? I asked my facebook fans this very question - as the characters are so distinct in my mind's eye I just couldn't ascribe actors to them! Ultimately, Rufus Sewell was to be Arlo - and Emily Mortimer was to be Petra.

Oh, nice! I wasn't familiar with Freya North at all before reading Annie's link, but Rufus would make a lovely music teacher

I've read about three of Freya North's novels, including Pillow Talk. I really enjoyed them. They are light very romantic easy to read novels with a feel good factor. Rufus would be good to play the lead man in any one of them. Wonderful stories. I don't think he would agree though. As we know he doesn't see himself as the handsome romantic hero and doesn't want to play those type of roles and become typecast as such. He said didn't he that he is a character actor. Well good on him for sticking to his principles. We will remain faithfull and love him in whatever he portrays. And I know we all agree with that!

A fan also suggested Rufus for a character in a Deborah Harkness book called A Discovery of Witches - Matthew - another vampire but not really a bad guy - more a gentleman warrior

He was also mentioned (not just by me) as Roarke in the J D Robb "In Death" series. Discussed on the book thread. Any of these characters sound interesting for him. They are all different. As GE2 has mentioned, he doesnt always see himself in the roles people think he'd be perfect for. Oh come on Rufus...we may have some work for you.
Its great that the author mentioned him.

In my opinion Rufus could play anything that attracts him; anything that arouses his interest and challenges his abilities as an actor. BUT!!! At the same time he needs to be an actor. You certainly cannot expect throughout your whole career to have these outstanding and different characters all the time. Sometimes you need to recheck your priorities. If you really want to act, and obviously you are not offered what you think you want, than perhaps one need to change. I am only saying that a good romantic character is not necessarily a bad choice for Rufus. After all usually stuff in life is more to the normal side than to the dramatics of it. Being part of life as a person and as an actor is an admirable decision. And that is how the audience will be having more and better time watching its favorite actors perform their craft. Have you seen the movie "A good year" with Russell Crowe? I loved it. Not really my style of entertainment, but very good nonetheless. And it was a very dramatic, bold and mighty actor playing a normal and adorable guy. He made the film much fuller and enjoyable. I don't know if I am making the right comparison here. But that is my honest opinion. I will definitely check the book/s you all mentioned.

I think Rufus would play anything that makes him feel good.He has the need to have a good time while filming and feel that what he does will have a good impact on people and his career of course. He has added some diamonds through years in his filmography, but I think he knows when there is a little gem there. He can take it and make it glow like a diamond!

Rufus would be interesting in one of Freya North's books. Yes, they are romantic comedies, but why not?
