The TV reports about these riots are really scary.
Hard to believe that this is happening in London. Hope there will be a good solution - fast...
Pray that Rufus' son Billy and other family members as well as his friends are protected.
My thoughts are with all you Rooftoppers based in London, too.

GE2 - aren't you in London?? IF so - hope that the riots aren't near your neighborhood. Stay safe all of our London Rooftoppers.

I've been following reports on Twitter and on the BBC and it's shocking. I do love, however, all of the so-called "RiotWombles" who took to the streets today to clean up in the affected neighborhoods. (I had to Google "Wombles" to figure out what the Twitterers were talking about!)
Stay safe everyone!

These are so horrible news, what I have seen in the television.
I hope everyone will stay safe and I am with everyone who lives in London. That's so unbelievable and incredible what people are always capable to. And endanger other innocent people.
Yes, and of course I truly hope, that thing will be back normal soon... as soon as possible.

I was in London last weekend but not in the Tottenham area. Hubby contacted me and advised the stay clear of Tottenham (not that I knew where it was!) The trouble seems to have been in what I call outer London rather than inner London.
Fortunately things sound to have been much calmer in London last night although trouble is still kicking off in cities like Manchester and Birmingham.
Lots of arrests have been made so let's hope it's all over soon.
Oh and GE2 doesn't live in that area so I'm sure she's ok and we'll hear from her soon.

Good to hear that things are calming down in London. I hope it won't get too bad in the other cities. It's really crazy to see how this violence spreads so quickly

I do hope that no one of the Rooftoppers and their families and friends were affected by these riots - and hopefully everything will calm down and come back to normal soon.

I'm from Enfield, the 'suburban town' where riots broke out on Sunday night. Live away from the central part of town, so didn't know much about it till we heard sirens and saw helicopters around 9pm, when the gangs were heading our way. Fortunately, the gangs moved down towards Edmonton/Tottenham again.
I do live close to the Sony centre though, but fortunately not close enough to have to stay indoors all day yesterday with the windows closed, due to the fumes from all the smoke.
Things were calmer last night in London, but I think the general feeling here is, something like this would have been stopped much sooner in America and other parts of Europe.
PM David Cameron is now saying tougher measures can be used by the police, which is what the public were calling for on Sunday morning after the Tottenham riot.

Glad to hear the trouble didn't reach you, Anniem - but, even so, a bit too close for comfort, I'm sure.
Joyce, thanks for your concern, but as Nell said, I don't live in London. However, my brother lives near Walthamstow (and actually used to live IN that area) so hopefully his direct neighbourhood wasn't affected - he's away on holiday at the moment, but he doesn't live near any shopping centres so chances are his street wasn't affected. Fingers crossed. It's good to see so many people using the same social media that were used to organise the riots, to organise the clear-up. London tends to pick itself up very quickly after problems!
There were rumours where I am yesterday of impending trouble, but nothing came of it - just people jumping on the bandwagon.
I do know someone whose partner is a Met Police officer, but he wasn't deployed to the trouble-spots as he hadn't had recent riot training - boy, was he glad! (So was my friend!)

I hate watching the news and seeing all of what's happening. It's hard and a little scary to believe that myself and my family were travelling through some of the affected areas at various times only a short while ago. Stay safe all London Rooftoppers!!!
