I have the whole "Il Postino" CD this reading is taken from. There are other world-class stars like Julia Roberts, Ralph Fiennes or Sting reading other Neruda poems and I had expected Rufus to be just one among lots of great readers, but I should have known he'd excel among them. None of the others has this perfect timing and this instinctive feeling for the rhythm and flow of the language without overdoing it.
