Hey, everyone! First caught sight of Rufus in Dark City. Enjoyed the film a lot, but what I think really got me hooked was 9/11: Out of the Blue. Then 11th Hour and Pillars of the Earth, with The Illusionist, Taming of the Shrew, and Paris, je t'aime thrown in there somewhere. Most recently, watched Victoria Station and Zen (loved them) and A Knight's Tale (didn't love it). Looking forward to seeing the rest of his work.
Any pointers to rare audio or video much appreciated!
Cheers, odietamo

Hello and welcome on board!
I've only watched all of 9/11 once, as it is such a fine emotional performance that it always has me in a sobbing mess halfway through it, but this ist definitely one of Rufus's best works ever. I'm absolutely with you on Zen, Dark City, Taming of the Shrew etc.
My other favourites are The Woodlanders and In a Savage Land (although the two of them are rather hard to find as Region 2 DVDs, do try to find them!) I also loved the fabulous BBC miniseries "Charles II" and, on a lighter note, "Martha, Meet Frank, Daniel and Laurence". Also found him excellent as Lord Marke in "Tristan & Isolde" and as tormented grieving father in "Vinyan".
Have fun on the Rooftop!

Welcome, Odietamo! Well, the Rooftop is a rich Rufus-mine, I think there are some words about each and every piece of his work…somewhere. Charles II is not a rare thing, but still I would like to point to that. And Illuminata is a great film. And the Doctor Syn audio series is a really good fun. Oh, and Downloading Nancy… I hope you'll enjoy your exploring!

Welcome to the Rooftop, Odietamo!
I'd recommend Victory, which was filmed after a novel by Joseph Conrad and is also not so easy available.
As audio I also like the Woodlanders very much, Rufus reads the abridged version very moving - to me often more moving than the film itself.

Welcome, odietamo! Glad you decided to join. I can endorse the recommendation of Charles II, and also suggest Higher Love (also known as At Sachem Farm, or Uncorked) for some cute Rufus. Hope you enjoy yourself here!

Hi odietamo! The ladies have given you some great suggestions of Rufus' work and I definitely agree with Kate. I think 9/11: Out of the Blue is him at his best. I've only seen it once, but to me, that was truly his shining moment. A couple of other must-sees (although EVERYTHING starring Rufus is a must-see) are A Man of No Importance, Bless the Child, and Amazing Grace.
Have fun!

Hi, Odietamo! Welcome and thanks for introducing yourself. 9/11: Out of the Blue is so powerful, it just breaks my heart any time I watch it.
If you like his audio performances, he does a great job with the James Bond books. I'm not sure where you are, but some of them are available for download on audible in the UK (but not the US). Or you can usually find a collector's tin of 12 books on CD for a pretty reasonable price on ebay or amazon.
I hope you have a great time here!

Welcome to the Rooftop Odietamo! The girls have mentioned most of Rufus' work. Hope you enjoy catching up with everything. It is very exciting seeing his films etc for the first time. He is such a good actor and a stunningly handsome man that it is so enjoyable to watch them over and over. Among my favourites are TOTS and most particularly I love Zen. I am so pleased that the showing in the USA has been received well and am still hoping that sometime they will make another series. The BBC have made a big mistake in cancelling it after three episodes as there are a lot of fans who want to see more! Some of his older work is so good too, like Cold Comfort Farm and Gone to Seed which are only available from USA but you can purchase from Amazon. You will love this site. Everyone loves Rufus and we can discuss him freely as we all feel the same about him. You will love all the info and pictures that are posted on here: Enjoy yourself - you have come to the right place if you love Rufus!
