i checked out of boredom and it works now.
you know, just below "the rooftop" there is this line of icons with "home" "new topics", "login" and such?
well at the end is the "chat", you just click on that, and it works with java script, so you would have to install java (for free) for it to work on your pc.
i will try to log on there later on tonight to see if people are on it.
since i usually get to sleep very very late on saturday nights, i might even be chatting with ozzz buddies soon!

Hi, there, Tipou! Do you use the same login you use for the rooftop? (I probably can't check in tonight, but for future reference)
PS As you may have noticed, I've moved this thread to the Admin Notices and Tech help section, in case people (like me) have questions about how it works.

I have wanted to use this for some time, so was glad to see thread about it. Have clicked on chat room . All I am getting is a blank white square.  I have java script already installed . I have never used a chat room before so.... Is this what I should see? what am I doing wrong  Is It ... wrong time?  or even wrong continent ?  Is nobody there ?  HELP!!! |

Have just tried again No Tip, no name or icon Just a big white square. What do you get when you click chat ? Will try again another time though. |

i get a regular chat box with that list of chatters on the right hand side.
perhaps you have to update your version of java? i know there was a more recent version offered this year.

Thanks Tip, I upgraded my java and got into the chat room. Yes. my name was in the right hand box . I typed and sent a message but there was no-one else there (BooHoo) And yes, it is pretty lonely on your own!! Thanks again for your help F xx |

i guess we would have to set a time for a chat meeting. there are people from a lot of time zones here. when i get here, i am alone most of the time. and while you browse the board, you are not in the chat room, so if someone goes there, they are seeing no one.

I noticed that too.....usually when I am on there's no one else on, and when I saw some others were on I checked the chat room there was no one else there
