I agree with what Frannie says about Mel. I haven't seen all of his work but I love The Patriot and What Women Want is a cute one too, and I remember liking Maverick (although it's been a while since I've seen that one too). I haven't seen any of his "current" (meaning within the last ten-or-so-years) work.
