I am almost positive that the plaid-shirted man is David Lee Smith, who played Ashley Judd's husband in "Divine Secrets of the Ya-Ya Sisterhood" and Shane West's father in "A Walk to Remember." U.S. TV viewers might remember him as the Internal Affairs cop on CSI: Miami. See more at www.imdb.com/name/nm0807900/. Rufus looks like he's come from a set (or photo shoot), or is on a break from one. If you look at how his hair is styled, particularly the bangs, it looks like his hair in the photo from "Hotel Noir". Very wavy, shiny, and Gatsby-esque (except dark instead of blonde).

Smith is another one of those actors who is good looking enough to be a leading man, but has worked only as a character actor. For me, he's another actor who burns up the screen no matter how little time he's there. He holds his space in a scene, regardless of what actor or actress he's opposite.
Years ago, he was a love interest for Melina Kanakaredes' character on the U.S. series "Providence" (she had a minor role in "Dangerous Beauty" as a courtesan). I remember the day after the first episode aired with his storyline, every female I knew who watched the show was saying "WHO was THAT??? And how long is he staying?"
It's odd that he and Rufus are in each other's spheres -- these are not two paths I would have ever envisioned crossing. Initially, I thought Smith might have had a supporting role in ALVH, but that's not the case. So either they're in a pending project or a project still in its earliest stages of conception...or they just met at some event at some point in time.
The idea of them in a project together is appealing. Then again, the thought of these two tall, dark, handsome men together in a scene is almost more than one woman can be expected to physically handle...

I was reminded of that photo, too! So either they're in a pending project or a project still in its earliest stages of conception...or they just met at some event at some point in time. Love the speculations. (Although it might well be that they simply decided to grab a coffee at the same time and met by chance, it's more fun to imagine there's something more behind it )

Excellent sleuthing! I'm guessing that they just happened to be in the same shop at the same time. It's apparently quite a popular place in a very trendy part of town.

Don't care about the spin (don't care much for the Daily Mail anyway), but love the pictures.
