That definitely sounds like my sort of Christmas!!! Thanks for the re-upload, GE2! The wood-smoke bit got to me especially. You'll all find out why someday

They clearly did their research... "Twickenham, in the heart of England's countryside". LOL!

Thanks very much, GE2! That was great, I hadn't seen that before.
LOL, I love that he felt the need to tell his American audience that Wales isn't in England (sadly, he's probably right).
I watched the rest of the clip with Bill Nighy and Cate Blanchett talking about Christmas crackers. I'd never heard of or seen a Christmas cracker until Bridget Jones' Diary. Bill Nighy's right, someone could make a fortune introducing them to the US, because people here buy all kinds of silly Christmas things as stocking stuffers, and we sure love things that explode.

funny you should mention this. had never seen this movie until last night, when i decided to watch it and see if i could actually get through an evening without rufus. it was a feel-good time, but i thought hg looked truly ill through most of the frames. he was so thin and anemic. or is that just me comparing him to rufus' excellence? after all, i had been watching tom before and if ever a man looked more perfect (even in death), i don't know who it could be.

I loved introducing all my American friends to Christmas crackers when we were younger. A lot of them (as far as I know) use them at Christmas now themselves and have spread the word. If anyone over here wants to get their hands on any for Christmas this year, they should be available soon in the British section at any World Market store. Advent calendars were a huge hit with my friends too (they'll probably be with the crackers on display inside the store).

That definitely sounds like my sort of Christmas! Mine, too. And don't forget the love - under the Christmas tree...

Ahhh...Christmas... but I want to celebrate Halloween and Thanksgiving first. We don't have a World Market store near my mom's home. But just in case any of you are on the hunt for them- my mom finds her Christmas crackers at Marshalls and TJ Maxx here in the US. (Perhaps because TK Maxx in the UK is part of the larger company?) She gets pretty excited about the hunt, and sends me email updates about it. ;D Megamem, advent calendars are huge here, too. I grew up with them, but it seems like they have waves of popularity. Some seasons, you can't find them for love or money, and other seasons, you're tripping over them in the aisles.

Meg… love advent calendars. My favorite, though, is a reusable one I bought on The Mile in Edinburgh. It makes me smile to unpack it and put it up each November.

It's so funny to read that advent calendars are something special to you US girls. We've got loads of them at almost any kind of shop this time of year, and so many variations. Filled with chocolates, other candy, little toys, pictures, stories - you name it, we got it.
Maybe we should do a Rufus advent calendar with one particularly nice pic per day ;D

We've always had Advent calendars, but I grew up in a pretty Catholic area, so maybe that's why they're so common around here. Maybe we should do a Rufus advent calendar with one particularly nice pic per day ;D Well, Tom could function as a pretty good Joseph, but I think Petruchio as Mary could be considered a bit blasphemous. ;D
