I too had the recording blocked and it came back with a message that it was not available for recording. Am pursuing the matter and will try with other equipment on Saturday at 9pm when it is due to be repeated. If I get an answer, will let you know.

What fun, ho?! ;D Except.....not enough Rufus, and too many uncles and nephews to keep track of! Loved it, though, and looking forward to Episode 2! Exactly....and I can imagine him vividly how he will do his task in the next episode...thinking of Seth .....

*groan* I completely missed this That'll teach me for going away for so long. I'm really happy to hear that it was so good, though. It sounds like it must have been so much fun for him! When reading the storyline I immediately thought of Cold Comfort Farm. ;D

Oh - mine recorded onto my Virgin Media box. I've just tried it assuming I got the end it looks to be ok.
Meg and anyone else that wants it - you can still listen to it on i-player for the rest of the week.

If I'm not mistaken, we discussed the possibilities of listening to a radio play already when we learned about "England, Their England". Perhaps for the ladies who could not listen to "Uncle Fred in the Springtime" it might be worthwhile to look up in the thread of "England, Their England" what else they could do?

I have taken advantage of one of the possibilities walt is hinting at and would, of course, be happy to share. Just PM me.

Listened and was somewhat disappointed because I believe Wodehouse is better read by one consumate actor who can mobilize his voice around the various characters. Needs no guessing as to whom I am referring! Next time BBC get it right put - Sewell on the case!

Again - too many other characters and far too little of Rufus! - But we should not complain: better to hear only a little bit of our man's voice than nothing! ;D

Even better to hear more though whoever is in casting needs their heads looking at.

There's never enough Rufus! I did enjoy it, though.

I enjoyed the play and the musical bits - very good - shame there was only snippets of Rufus, but how does the saying go - good things come to those who wait and Rufus certainly is a 'good thing' ;D

Rufus and Jared Harris: So, would you like to join? Uncle Fred in the Springtime is repeated on the radio - it's still funny. Oh, yes yes! Let's throw some eggs with the Duke of Dunstable at you, "Rupert Baxter"!! Oh, come on, Mr Harris, it will be fun. www.bbc.co.uk/programmes/b01gf4lqBBC Radio will make both episodes available for many weeks this time, so use the opportunity and enjoy the play. Again. (And again ) P.S. If you have already known the radio play and you just want a great Rufus scene to cheer you up, then you can cheat and start at 16:17, that's the "Polly, Polly, POLLY!" moment. Yes, that's Rufus as Ricky Gilpin, or let's use Uncle Fred's words, "the poet with the punch". Oh oh, and don't miss the ending! You can hear Rufus bathing in the Wodehouse style - what a joy! - especially at 54:24
