There appears to be a couple of Proboards glitches affecting some threads right now: 1 - if you make what should be the first post on a new page, sometimes the system will return you to the previous page after you've posted (rather than the new page, as it should) - this has happened to me a few times over the past week or so. I didn't notice it took me back a page, thought my new post hadn't gone through, re-posted and then had to delete the double-up! 2 - earlier today, the front page showed that Adina had posted in the "Four Letters One Word" game, but when I clicked on the link to reply (several times), the last post showing up was my own, with no sign of Adina's! I checked the front page in case she had deleted her post just as I clicked the link, but it was still apparently there, even though I couldn't view it. Eventually hers showed up, but revealed that karatekwa had also posted since mine and that hadn't shown up either! There is a thread on the Support Board on these issues (click HERE) and as you can see, we're not the only one affected (in fact, that thread carries on from a previous one where the issues began back in July, so we've been lucky so far) Just thought I'd alert you in case you thought you were going crazy! If I'm online when it happens again, I'll report it for this forum.

thx for that - and good to know... I had many problems to start the "Parade's End - screencaps" ... I uploaded the pics and wanted to check with "Preview" ... I saw the pics but the text of the pics was gone. I started again, same problem - but I was sure, everything was ok but I wasn't able to click the "Post Reply" button" .... copied text, started again and everything was ok .... I was really confused this morning

This is interesting. Back towards the end of March, I posted a further bit of the ''Rufusworks''fantasy script. It seemed to post ok, I logged out, went to bed. The next day, there was no sign of it. I assumed I had caused offence, and someone had removed it. ( GE2, you and I had 'spoken', so I didn't think you had). So I just stopped writing, and backed off. Although I was a bit surprised no-one had said anything. Now I'm thinking that there is a good chance it just'disappeared'.

That sounds very odd Lindragon. If anything's removed it's normal to get a pm just to let you know why it had to be removed. In the past I've cursed after I've posted something, viewed it to check it looks ok and then backed out without posting. Grrrrr no it's worse than that Grrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr!

I have had disappearing posts too;,these were a while ago but earlier this afternoon I could not sign on board at all >> blank screen with a little box telling me that RT was not available because pro servers were not able to connect with it. And to try again later.

Thanks for the info, GE2. A recent update on that support thread you linked to said that they thought it was occurring mostly in threads with more than 400 posts, but the thread Lindragon mentioned (Rufusworks) doesn't have nearly that amount.
Frannie, I was having trouble signing in a few weeks ago but my problem was a bit different than yours. I would log in successfully and it would take me to the home page, but when I clicked on any thread, it logged me out. In that case, the solution seemed to be to clear my cookies from my internet browser. So if you have trouble again, give that a try to see if it helps.

That's a separate issue, though, PGG - I think that comes under just "general Proboards problems"!! By the way, going back to the the posts not appearing even though it appears someone has posted, should you try to play a game and it's locked, that's the instruction from Proboards so they can investigate the problem. Rueful, thanks for the info about the number of posts - but given the thread Lindragon mentioned, maybe the problem is spreading? Lindragon, no, I didn't delete anything - as Nell said, a PM would have been sent if any of the Mods had done that. Also, like Nell, I'm forever previewing a message to check spelling, etc, then moving on to another page without posting! No offence, but could it have been that? We all have our blonde moments!!

Rueful, thanks for the info about the number of posts - but given the thread Lindragon mentioned, maybe the problem is spreading? Anglophile has said in some of her comments that she had an issue with Proboards about the length of the posts in that thread. Well, there are some extremely long posts there. (Although Proboards have some kind ways to save space: they usually eat my … . I like using these mischievous little dots to make my posts even more annoying ambiguous good-looking, and they just eat my darling little dots for breakfast. My old posts are not nicely obscure any more, they are just some piles of letters.) I think we could take Rueful's advice and maybe we should re-start some threads in the Games. Four Letters One Word is a very popular game, I think there is no need to drag 883 pages behind us. (I feel myself guilty a little, I am the slowest member of the Rooftop, I modify my things quite often, that may cause trouble for the next player, if I re-post something at the same time. Although in that case GE2 mentioned here in her first post, I was innocent.)

I know there is a 60,000 character limit for posts - the problem with the Rufusworks thread was that each addition to the story increased the number of characters in that post until sometimes that limit was exceeded, so that wasn't a Proboards glitch, just the post being too long! I don't know why your dots get eaten, though, Adina! I like them! I don't really think we need to archive the older threads and start new ones - this problem is pretty random (it's not happening on all threads with lots of pages) so for now we'll just see if Proboards get things sorted out. (Thanks for your thoughts, though!

Thank you, GE2, Nell, Rueful, for your replies. Sorry not to reply sooner, we have been without broadband for about a week!! I don't use the preview facility anymore...I always lose the lot! I didn't know that one would recieve a pm if a post is deleted - that is a relief. I would hate to think I had offended, and then not know who/how. Having read all of this thread, I wonder if my post was too long ? I got carried away, as we were trying to draw towards the end of the'script'. I also noticed that Anglo posted at roughly the same time. I wonder if between us we overloaded the thread? Anyway, thank you for all the reassurance. (phew.......wipes brow) ( Adina, I like your dots........I use them a lot myself! )

Adina quoted: I'm with you on the dots.....love 'em. Some may have noticed that I use them a lot in CJC episodes!!!! They cover a multitude of my sins...........

It's probably something different but I logged in and commented last night and when I looked on the RT this morning there were only 10 names listed as having logged in, in the last 24 hours and mine wasn't one of them. The post I did does still appear to be there though. I hope we didn't lose anything.

i'm hoping the fantasy effort isn't responsible in any way for this problem. I loved doing it, but realized it did take up lots of space. then i stopped getting new ideas submitted, so i thought it had just sort of run its course. now i'm wondering if some of the new ideas got gobbled up and i never saw them. if you sent something, ladies, and i never incorporated it, it's because i never saw it. please forgive if anyone's feelings were hurt. and happy saturday to all. hugs, anglophile
