I found Rufus' comments about subscription TV interesting. I do sometimes think there is a lot of violence, nudity, and profanity, not because the story needs it but because the audience expects it from pay per view. I subscribed to Amazon to get TMITHC; having it I tried some of series available. I started with Outlander Yes, lots of violence and explicit sex but that was Diana Gabaldon's book, so I excused it and watched some others. At least , I started to watch three and gave them up because there was so much very explicit sex and horrific violence. I am not a prude as anyone who has read some of my stories will know, but enough is enough. In a different direction, TMITHC:- - - I have now watched the whole series three times and certain episodes several more times but it was only on Saturday while watching it yet again , that it occurred to me that The Man in the high Castle was not a man tucked hidden away in the neutral Zone but a different Man tucked away in a High Castle in Austria, which could take series 2 in a vastly different direction. ? Anybody else with views on the subject?

Well we have definitely seen A man in a high castle in Austria (stunning view by the way), but how can it be him? If he was making the films, why would he want them all back when he had them in the first place?! Or am I missing something here? I have been doing a lot of channel hopping lately with various new programmes. Not sure we have yet seen THE man in the high castle yet!!! If indeed he does exist at all, maybe just an urban myth or suchlike. As for Amazon, Netflix, there's good/bad on both. Don't want to bite the hand that is feeding me with TMITHC... Have to agree with Frannie re violence. Gave up on The Walking Dead with Andrew Lincoln, after just one series. Just so gory, plus I'm not a big fan of zombie stuff. Yes of course with certain subject matters there has to be sex/violence, but it needs to be integral to the plot not the plot! I hope that makes sense.

Hmmm...interesting. I have a feeling season 2 will have many twists and turns. Just when you think you know what's happening.....

I do hope we get it all in one lump again! It's so refreshing to watch the episodes back to back.

I didn't realise Outlander was on Amazon. I have seen the series but on i-tunes. It was pretty good I thought, not in TMITHC league but enjoyable. Once I got used to the lingo "you ken?!" Like "The Following" (the James Purefoy series I couldn't recall the name before) it isn't an Amazon original series. I can't help wonder if they threw that one in to mislead us. After all why would the syphilitic madman act in such a crazy way as to create a film about his own demise? It's not like the dark haired funny little man wanted to create a "super-race" of blond haired, blue eyed people or anything . Seems like he didn't think that one through! I've started reading the book. I find the characters in the series far more likeable. I like the way they convey that everyone is doing what they think is right. The characters feel harsher in the book to me, so far.

LOL ... Mr. Kate loved "Outlander". I think he was a wee bit in love with the leading lady.

Frannie! Your MoB sounds very sweet. (Mine, on the other hand, acts like an 8 year old boy if there is a romantic or sentimental scene--groans and then cracks jokes at the "mushy" stuff.) LOL ... Mr. Kate loved "Outlander". I think he was a wee bit in love with the leading lady. Considering how you feel about Rufus, I think you have to allow him that one. I've started reading the book. I find the characters in the series far more likeable. I like the way they convey that everyone is doing what they think is right. The characters feel harsher in the book to me, so far. I haven't read it yet, but I've seen commentary from other readers that agree with you. They say Juliana, in particular, has been softened. Since I often wanted to slap the Juliana in the tv series for her idiotic choices, I can't imagine what the book version must be like.
