Long time no see, everybody!! I've not stopped fangirling over Rufus, just moved to tumblr where SHRILL FANGIRL SHRIEKING is more commonplace haha! Anyway, every once in a while I do wax poetic about Rufus in a more articulate manner, and the latest was inspired by his role in Victoria, so I wanted to share with you all. It's not spoilery in the slightest, though, just an observation about his acting.
Rufus always makes these small yet meaningful movements in his roles, movements that are so easy to overlook and couldn’t possibly be in the script but add so much to tone and characterization if you notice them. I have a strong suspicion he doesn’t even necessarily consciously decide to do them, just gets caught up in the role and it feels right to him to do so he does. And he has a way of moving his hands so delicately and deliberately that you can’t help but be a bit mesmerized by him, even in real life. I just love this man and his mannerisms and his acting choices more than I can express. ♥
