I think I am officially giving up on Victoria after this season. First, there is no chance of any more appearances by Lord M and then Daisy Goodwin played very fast and loose with history. The assassination attempt on Peel had nothing to do with the Corn Law (happened 3 years prior). In fact, the real attempt is fascinating in its own right since it brought about the insanity defense to murder. Yes, yes, I know Victoria isn't a documentary and I don't mind speculation about things we don't know or even things being made up for a good story. But there should be more respect for basic historical fact.
