Ladies, your stories are so touching, and I know wherever our loved ones are, they are smiling at us for remembering them and sharing their stories with each other.
I believe the theory from physics that matter is neither created nor destroyed, so when someone passes on, I think they just morph into another form, but if you're sensitive and in tune, you can hear/see them.
Lovely thread, keep them coming!
P.S., Dreamer I loved that quote, is it from Shakespeare?

Something quite strange happened to me on Monday, I had changed wallets and took only a credit card and some cash out and transferred it to a smaller wallet. I was going to the city and didn't want to carry a big wallet, hence the change. I had to go out and run an errand so I put the cash and card back into my regular wallet, when I noticed that my driver's license and car registration were not in it. Frantic I checked my handbag then another thinking I had put it somewhere. I couldn't find it anywhere. My God-Mother just passed away several days earlier and that was weighing heavily on my mind, I kept checking my usual places and was at my wit's end, it's now nearly an hour now still no license. I re-checked a purse that I looked in previously and sure enuf it was there. I checked that bag and turned it inside out previously, I think she was watching down on me and "found" it and put it back.

Have only just read this thread so am late posting this. It is not spooky like the others but thought you might be interested. We live in an old( 114yrs) converted schoolhouse . After we moved into the house I met our local newspaper shop owner , who told me that he had been interested in buying our house before us until the former owner had told him it was haunted . I smiled politely because I am a sceptical person.and she hadn't told us any thing of the sort . . Told my husband this .. he is also sceptical about these things. We settled into the house and it had ...and still has a lovely happy atmosphere. We have young children ..very noisy .. when they went to bed we usually settle down in front of the tv so the house is not usually completely quiet . And this is how it was for few years. I have always had occasional nights of sleeplessness .but began to notice a breath of wind across my face when I was in bed .. only across my face.. and a lovely perfume . sometimes even waking me up. My husband never noticed this even if I woke him.... this is not a draught ..nowhere for it to come from ...and not at all frightening. About 5yrs ago at about 9pm we were reading and the house was quiet We heard children's steps running down the hall and children giggling and the bathroom door opening and closing . We got up ready to battle with our kids but there was no-one around and on looking in their bedrooms they were fast asleep. We occasionally hear this still usually about the same time and I often feel the scented breath on my face It doesn't bother us at all And when I am up late sleepless wandering around the house ,I don't feel bothered or nervous .Who ever they are, they mean us no harm and they are happy children.

That's really lovely to hear, Francesca. I am a big fan of a program here in the US on the Syfy channel called "Ghost Hunters" and "Ghost Hunters International" and in both programs they say that most spirits are just attached to the places that are the most familiar to them and mean no harm.
The horror type stories that Hollywood conjures up are just fantasy. I bet everyone here has had or knows of someone who has had a similar experience to yours.
I am glad you're not afraid of the spirits, I am sure they are just happily coexisting with you and your family.
