Lovely weather here, like autumn - cool in the morning and evening, warm during the day. It´s supposed to get cold though, but I hope it will stay warm enough for our choir meeting in the park tomorrow. Have a good week everyone and stay safe!

Enjoy pumpkin season and the nice weather, as well as the Fall decorations Kygal! And yes, I heard about football starting!
Arrived in Styria today, and though all the way it was dark and rainy, here it´s sunny. Fingers crossed it stays this way!

Thanks Kygal, except one day it was. Such a beautiful landscape, hiking, visiting wine taverns, a museum etc. Came back on Friday, and enjoyed the weekend. Saturday was hubby´s and my Anniversary.
Really cold here atm, and rainy too. Will get our sofa and carpet tomorrow, and some clearing to do too. Have a good start into the new week!

Hi everyone - I CAN NOT beleive it's been so long since I posted - heres' a summary of me since I last checked in: July - sucked. I was given about 3 weeks notice that we had to vacate an entire floor of the library and re-arrange the entire collection. We're taling moving almost 200,000 books. Had to scrable to find a mover, figure out what we would do and then supervise the move. The move was awful. When giving the estimate I was told they could do the job in 5 days. Contract said 10 - they took 13 days. Were supposed to work from 8:30 to 5:00 everyday but usally rolled in around 9:00 and quit about 4:00. The guys were moving as slow as molasses and when I complained they smirked and rolled their eyes as if to say I didn't know what I was talking about. Lost my temper and asked them who the $#@%$ they thought put those books on the shelf in the first place. Still finding sections they screwed up. August - sucked. After spending all summer planning for classes to be in-person, my boss tells me that, oh, no, the class would be online. Two weeks before school starts! Had to go back and totally re-arrange my lesson plan. Plus, my other class, which has 77 students, is to big for any of classrooms with social distancing. So instead of teaching the class once - I have to teach 2 times - back to back. So no TGIF for me - I'm in class almost the entire day. And teaching with a mask on is very tiring. The other bad thing was my demotion, which has been hanging over my head for a year and a half, finally happened. Knew it was coming but stung just the same. Then at my annual eye exam, my doctor told me I’m one exam away from losing my night driving privileges. In fact that even though I (barely) meet the standard, he recommended I not drive at night. The only good thing in August was our annual beach vacation. We were still able to go and we had a nice relaxing and safe experience. The beach we go to is never crowded and this was no exception. We had no problems with social distancing while on the beach. September - didn't suck as much as August but was still fairly hectic. Classes fell into a routine and I have to say my school did it right. EVRYONE was tested before being allowed on campus, people are randomly selected weekly for prevelance testing (I've been tested twice now, with a result both times!) and relentless in insisting on masks and social distancing. October - is getting better. Midoro, like you we attended a wedding. It was my nephew and I really didn't want to go - did not trust them to follow health guidelinse (and no surprise they didn't!) but my brother is super-touchy and it would have caused major family disruption if daughter, husband, and I stayed away. But it was weird. The brides' side and their friends were acting as if nothing was different - the grooms's family all wore masks and distanced ourselves from the rest of the guests. Ah well, it's been two weeks and I've had a test since then so I guess it was ok. But strange at the time. Kygal - Would love to hear about your kitchen re-model. What kind of appliances did you get? Did you go with stainless steel? I hope you're still enjoying your pumpkin spice everything. Daughter has gone all in for Halloween. We have a mass of small and medium size pumpkins and some mums decorating our porch steps. She's also making bags to give away for trick or treat rather than having candy you have to give out. The idea is to set up a table in the driveway with the bags and tell the kids to take one. No contact trick or treats! Midoro - Happy anniversay. Husband and I celebrated our anniversay in August. He offred to take me out to dinner but I'm wasn't up for that so we did take-out from a nice restaurant.

Welcome back Rachel! I was just thinking about you and missing you here. So sorry to hear of all the works woes. Sounds like you have been very busy and stressed. Glad things are getting better! Yes we are doing stainless steel appliances which we already had in place. The only new appliance needed is a stove and microwave over the stove. We plan to paint kitchen light gray with white cabinets. I haven't pick the counter tops yet. We have hired a contractor though. I have heard I need to prepare to be very patient with this...lol. This will be hard for me because I like everything done yesterday.
We will have the same guidelines for trick or treating here. Separate bags placed on a table in driveway.
Had to bring the banana plants in as the temp dropped to almost freezing. Will warm back up this week though.

OMG, yes I can tell you from experience that even with a contractor, maybe especially with a contractor, things will take longer than you think. Love the idea of light gray walls and white cabinets. What’s your floor like? Are you redoing that too?
And Kygal, I know you love your pumpkin spice, but at the grocery store yesterday I saw something that maybe even you wouldn’t like. Pumpkin spice hummus. That just seems so wrong to me.

Welcome back Rachel, missed you too! I remember you said something about the move, but I thought you and hubby would move. Sorry about your work problems and all the stress involved! I´ve heard of teaching problems here too, esp. when it comes to sudden decisions. Seems like nothing is safe anymore nowadays. Thankfully it wasn´t I who was at the wedding, but younger daughter, whose friend married, though with masks and distancing of guests. Yesterday was the long delayed confirmation of my niece, where we couldn´t go because of the restrictions, but there was a family lunch afterwards, nice, but a bit on the edge regarding the mixture of several households. Glad all your tests were ! Did you do the "real" one with nose and throat torture or the one with gargling? Keep safe! I like the kitchen Kygal, sounds nice! How long have you been working on it? I didn´t think of the trick-and-treating problem, though it´s done here sometimes too. I think carolling in January won´t happen either, as the teens enter the houses and flats. Glad I don´t drive, but it´s easier here in Vienna with public transport. Hubby drives during the holidays and when we make a trip, but goes to work by tube too. Thanks for the Anniversary wishes, and back to you and your husband Rachel! We were a few days in Styria on holidays, so afterwards, when the real anniversary was, we only slumpt on the couch lol. It´s already been 28 years, I can´t believe it! Glad you did have at least your beach holiday without much care for distancing! And lol about the pumpkin spice hummus. Poor hummus is already seasoned with everything available, though I like the one with the green thing, I think coriander. Have a quiet rest of the weekend, and a good start into the new week!

That´s funny that the word we used for the test result is substituted through the smilie!
