I am so freaking mad right now l could scream. Just found out that the wedding we’re going to (nephew, son of husband’s sister) NONE of the bride’s family is vaccinated. And they are pressuring our niece (groom’s sister) who is in the wedding party to not wear a mask at the indoor ceremony. In spite of the fact that niece is immuno-compromised with serious health problems. Serious as in she and her fiancé recently got quietly married since things may not turn out well for her. I guess the bride is worried it would look bad in the pictures.
Honestly if it was my call we wouldn’t go, but husband wants to support his sister. Frankly I’m appalled that nephew hasn’t called off the wedding, that he is marrying someone who is showing such callous disregard for his sister’s health. To say nothing of the rest of us!

Covid positivity is up here. Lots of hospitalized patients. Most have not been vaccinated. They all regret that decision when they have gotten so sick. We have been masking out and about. Hope the bride will reconsider her decision. I would certainly mask up inside! People!
Football season starts this weekend. We will tailgate carefully this season.

That's what I've been reading - that the most serious cases requiring hospitalization are occurring amongst the unvaccinated. We will go, we will be masked and to heck with anyone who has a problem with us doing so.
The house will be very quiet tonight - husband, daughter and dog left for Wisconsin today. May have a Rufest tonight.

Have a good one everyone!

Gosh, it seems like forever since I've been here. Went to the wedding and it wasn't as bad as feared. It seemed SIL was projecting and exaggerating quite a bit. She got "bride's whole family not vaccinated" from one member of the wedding party not vaccinated (and she was pregnant). Niece with health problems was fine with everything. We did mask up for the ceremony which was inside and we were among the few who did so. Reception was outside and our table was well-placed, right between the two entrances to the tent so we had excellent cross ventilation. The worst part of the whole thing was the mosquitoes. My leg got bit up something fierce.
The trip back wasn't so bad - long but bearable.
As for football - husband and daughter went to the game yesterday and (since daughter is a B-School grad) they were invited to the fancy tailgate put on by the Business School. They said it was very nice with good food. But the party was in one of the end zones, so they eventually left to go sit in their regular seats. For some reason I got an email inviting our family to a tailgate for a game in Oct. being put on by the Parent's Council. Now that's a group for people who give serious bucks to the University - not sure how I got on the list. Daughter says we should go anyway, it's sure to be good!

Happy to hear the wedding went well. LOL about your SIL not getting the whole story. Sounds like someone in my family. Never gets the facts right.
The tailgate sounds fun! I would take advantage of the invite. We have simplified things this year with our group.
Have a happy week!

Yeah, there’s one in every family.
Will have to turn down the parents council invite. Daughter said her boss will be there and it might make things awkward for her.
The past weekend was gorgeous, very fall like, no humidity and pleasant. Today we snapped back to summer with highs in the 90s. Can’t wait for real fall weather.

Glad the wedding was okay, and hopefully not another cluster Rachel!
Re pregnancy, some people here also think it´s dangerous to vaccinate in this time, but on the contrary, it supports the woman and child. Recently heard of a case where a mother died in ICU of covid, and they had to fetch the child.
Anyway, anti-vaxxers here too, and most cases among the unvaccinated. They got other vaccines too, didn´t they? or perhaps not. Just selfish imo, and we´ll probably have the next lockdown soon, and wear masks etc for the rest of our lives. Sorry for the rant... Otherwise the weather was fine the last two weeks (after I had thought it was winter in August), so hope it will keep when hubby and I will go on a two-week holiday (vacation) first to Friuli/Italy, then to Styria/Austria from next Tuesday on. I got a new laptop from hubby, so really happy I can write/surf etc quicker than before. Haven´t moved the content of my old one over yet, so had to google Rooftop lol. But now here I am. Elder daughter was on a camp with children of our Parish, with all covid rules, then one week in Carinthia, hiking and a bit of swimming, as the lake was rather cold. Younger daughter will have a few days off from her work in Germany, so will come to Vienna on Thursday. Hope to see her at the weekend, as she stays at her boyfriend´s. Trying again to lose weight by eating less and healthier, and making a lot of walks. Cross your fingers for me! Have a good week everyone!

I agree with you Midoro! Still seeing the sickest patients to be the unvaccinated. Working in healthcare I best not get started on my rant!!
Have a lovely vacation! Good luck with the laptop. I need to cut back on the carbs. Pumpkin spice season!

Kygal, Not to mention that Trader Joe’s just got in their pumpkin bagels!
Midoro, glad to hear that despite the conditions in your country that you and your family are doing well. I expect we could all rant all day about the lack of common sense and courtesy by so many during the pandemic. I read some time ago on Facebook that we will have to retire the cliche “avoid it like the plague” since it is now obvious that so many people won’t avoid the plague if it means being even slightly inconvenienced.

Well, as of tomorrow it’s officially fall. Our weather has seemed to have broken, the last few days have been fall-ish. Well, fall-ish for us, highs in the low 80s. I hope it turns fall for real soon.
