I normally cross stitch but for the first time in <mumble> years I tried knitting because I have a grandchild on the way (dont hold that against me, I pretend I am 24 no matter what). So, I have just finished this - not your traditional baby stuff but this baby will have to be with its self sufficient parents in the bush in winter!

Well I don't knit, but as you know I like the odd glass of wine, but when I'm not drinking I like to jog to relax, walk the dogs, I have two Spinone's and drive my Mk1 Golf - called Rufus, he's roofless you see, oh dear, I know, I'm sad. Anyway that's what I do in the little spare time I have.

My god quoll that's beautiful. I haven't seen anything like it since my grandmother died. You need to put up a website and sell that stuff. Gorgeous.

Quoll, beautiful outfit, well done. I like to crochet and have made a blanket for my grandson. He loves it and knows that grandma made it for him. I wish I have your talent to make a whole outfit. I did make a sweater for my daughter when she was a babe. It turned out alright and she still has it. It is now her keepsake.
Unlike you, I'm not a young grandma. I'm slight older, 24.5. LOL.

Well, looking at the outfit for your grandchild.........you are a wonderful knitter! But may I say I LOVE that cross-stitch piece! How big is it? I used to do cross-stitch........but on a much smaller scale........and I found I didn't have the patience, so I gave up after a year or so! I admire people that can do crafts and have the skills for any kind of stitching!

. the knitting and cross-sticth are beautiful, what talent you have Quoll! As for spare time, I have a 2 1/2 year old son, spare time is a thing of the past for now! Except, of course, for this board. That's not "spare" time, that's important stuff! RuGirl

Quoll, I love your work! I am a closet x-stitcher myself but only do small kits and those takes me months to complete. I gave my mother an unfinished squirrel for Mother's Day, how's that for a thoughtful gift?? I told her I would try and finish it when I'm next home at Xmas. I had a knitting bug last year fall and knitted a scarf and a hat. And then midway through my next hat, the bug went away and I haven't touched the needles since!

That cross-stitch work is very beautiful, quoll -- so much detail! And adorable baby outfit, too. (I don't know how to do any type of knitting or sewing, etc!)
For years, I did a lot of drawing and painting. I've been pretty lazy lately when it comes to hobbies!

After all the talk on this forum about Rock and Roll and plays in general, I went and volunteered at our local theatre today. I have to be available 4 evenings a month (usher, coatcheck or icecream booth) and am strongly encouraged to see all the plays - free of course. They said it was the largest producing house in North America with 12-14 shows a year - that should keep me busy! Thank you everybody for giving me the idea!

I do so admire your knitting and needlework, Quoll. I wish I had the patience I had in my teens when I knit sweaters, and sewed my own clothes. Now that I'm retiring, I'm taking up portrait drawing and doodles and maybe will self publish . Working on family portraits at the moment. Need a less solitary hobby though..need to take a page out of Pattirose's book .

Excellent decision Pattirose - I was thinking much along those lines myself but havent yet screwed up the courage to do anything about it. Next thing you know we will all be auditioning for something!!!!!
