I'm not quite sure which area this should be posted under, so I'll put it here....
For anyone who's been to R'n'R:
Will I get kicked out of the theater for wearing jeans (and a really nice sweater!) to an evening performance?
*Sigh*. I'm a country mouse when it comes to these things, I know.... Squeek!

I have to be completely honest with you pen, I wouldn't. And you won't see many others doing it either, not at night. You might see a bit more of it at the matinées and quite a bit more of it at the musicals. No one will kick you out or look at you strangely but you might feel a bit out of place. People usually dress for the theatre in NY--especially something like this that isn't likely to draw a large crowd of out-of-towners that might be more casual about the theatre where they hail from. That doesn't mean you have to wear a skirt or opera gloves (though you'll see some pretty amazing dresses at the Met) but you should probably wear something a bit dressier than you'd wear every day. I'd say if you absolutely must wear jeans try to go for black not blue.
That's just my two cents worth. New Yorkers tend to be a bit less casual than most other places in the US to begin with especially at night and in the winter. But you do what makes you feel comfortable, regardless of what anyone says.

It's up to you, Pen. I wore blue jeans and t-shirt to RnR last week.

Thanks for the advice, maxx and uke. I don't know what I'm going to do yet--all of this has to be factored in so I can get an idea of how much money I'll need. Of course, there's dumb stuff I want to do--like eat at least once a day .... Gotta go crunch some more numbers! Pen
