Marty was in love with him from the get go she had probably loved him since she was a tiny girl because he would definitely have been first crush material. I suspect Mrs Whatever her name was could probably have fancied him except that he gave her a bit of a serve when they first met (I love that scene) and she didnt like her men with any strength. There werent that many female characters in it otherwise

I was thinking about that gaggle of giggling girls who wouldn't invite Marty to their little fertility rite in the meadow, or whatever it was. Remember? They all danced in a circle, threw seeds around and ran off in hopes of being caught by their own true love.

That's true, I had forgotten about them!

I just couldn't choose in the end - I got it down to both Charles II ones, the Helen of Troy, the Amazing Grace one, and Tristan & Isolde. And even that took a lot of deliberating!

I have to confess that I don't often vote in these contests. I don't own all of the Rufus movies, so though I know which ones I would vote for out of the ones I have seen, I tend to want to have the COTM be a movie that I don't own (purely selfish, I am). I saw Woodlanders only once and I don't have it to keep, so I knew it was winning and let it be so that I can watch the COTM as often as I want! (does this make sense?)

Anyway, I'm happy Woodlanders won out, because I remember that scene, and loved it!

I always crave apples every time I watch this film.
Well, apples & Giles, but that's a given! ;D

Yay! I LOVE Giles also. Could anyone post some memorable photos of Woodlanders? That movie is a heartbreaker. GE2, et al, we could do a new game called "Let's Rewrite the Woodlanders" with a few tweaks to the plot and a new ending. On second thought, maybe not. We tend to get a little naughty with our Ruf obsession.

Loved the film, but it's one I can hardly watch. I start losing it the minute Giles and Marty first appear. My exact words (and I do tend to yell at the tv!) were, "Aw, just rip out my heart and stomp on it, why don't'cha?!"
